They mentioned USF and UCF as expansion candidates briefly on local ESPN radio today in South Carolina. The commentator however shut it down by citing that the fan support was abysmal and not likely to get better with FSU and UF dominating both markets.

Through out expansion, I have failed to see why this matters.  They need a CC game.  If they can achieve this without expansion, why would they need to add anyone.  USF, Cincy, Memphis, Houston, UCF....  None of those programs would increase the strength of schedule.  Further, it would be years before any of those teams could recruit at a level to be competitive.  Now, if all they care about is market size, new markets, recruiting, and potential, then USF and the school to the East are the best bets.  Again though, none of these schools would help the Big 12's playoff hopes.      

only reason would be conference championship game. they have one less game than all of the other leagues, don't they?

Just take the best 14 teams/markets from AAC and MWC plus BYU and Army if value there and be done with it. Decent tv money and probably P6.

I would also like to mention that Miami has no fan support.  Or any horrible P5 teams.
