Soon to be discredited blog seems pretty serious about Houston source:

Already was back on Pg 406. The original Houston "source" , https://twitter.com/houstonbig12, appears to be somewhat of a clown and this scenario has more holes than Swiss Cheese. Best part is where he posts a redacted email that's supposed to be 100% proof of what he's saying. Maybe it's just cynical me but I find it hard to believe that an ESPN employee is going to leak news using his espn.com email account .... unless the magical 6:00 release time of his info was because it was the ESPN's mole last day on the job.

I'll start believing things when McMurphy starts saying things are happening.

I thought his specialty was consorting and conspiring with players.

College Sports Blog Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt talks Big 12 expansion, upcoming projects and ticket sales

On conference expansion:

“We’re at the time of the year where everybody is getting so excited about fall camp starting and the football season that’s in front of us. It’s a slower activity period, as far as college sports go. So president Boren’s comments obviously generated a lot of thought and discussion.

“That being said, I think president Gee, I think president Nellis were absolutely right.”

“There’s a process that is led by Bob Bowlsby, who I think is one of the best leaders in college athletics, as well as our president, and I know that we will continue to look at the landscape and be as strategic and proactive as we possibly can be.”

If and when they do it will be all about the money. That is a given. There has been rumors of adding 2 to 4 teams with 4 making the most money if a Big 12 network is figured in. Texas has it own network that's makes UT 15M a year. So the teams added would have to make enough to cover laying out a 15M yearly base to Texas to join the Big12 network. Thus, Florida schools would be high on the add list with the cable/sat market value here running around 80M. Likewise, to capture a larger share of this market both USF and UCF would be snapped up if a 4 team plan was enacted. Just my 2 cents.....

So Hocutt basically said "Well, never say never, but we're not expanding now."

I'm not sure we can believe a Prez or an AD in their discussions with the media anymore than we can believe anonymous bloggers, tweeters or ESPN.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
