Very interesting perspective. Would totally suk for us though.

I'm definitely not watching that league if it is formed. I can't watch too many of the P5 games now because it feels like we are FCS DII or whatever now. Kudos to those guys for taking all the remaining cash I guess.

Double post, but something else irked me. How is Texas losing 2 million? They have their own network, donors, and B12 TV deal. I am not being sarcastic, but rather actually curious how their costs are so high to still be losing so much money.

Also, would this mega league still be within the NCAA? Maybe I missed that in the article. So you would have one massive conference and then a bunch of bottom feeders in the FBS maybe in a 2nd conference. I don't see how you can say the FBS is even close to competitive at that point.

If that is happening, the bottom feeder "power" schools would get reevaluated. Especially if ECU, concy, us and iucf, etc get bigger and better

Would be too late. MegaConf would get $50mill per school, ScrubConf teams would get $2mill. Won't be able to keep up with the gap more than a couple of years.

Imagine if that happened and then Fox outbid ESPN for it... imagine ESPN without the P5 college football.

Fox would absolutely love that... they have a number of regional networks, plus Fox, Fox Sports 1, Fox Sports 2, FX, and FXX... That is enough to fight against the sports leader...  And Fox bet the farm 20+ years ago when it first bid for the NFL... If Rupert and his family are set on taking down the folks in Bristol, it would not be out of the question.

However... there is going to be so much uncertainty in the next few years... O'Bannon case... Jenkins case... Northwestern's NLRB appeal (still undecided)... possible actions by Congress... it's hard to predict what will happen before 2024.

Makes me throw up in my mouth when they say "the rising costs of college athletics".  It is the P5 that is pushing up the costs of college athletics with ridiculous salaries, and then they say the P5 needs more money to keep up with the cost.  It's pretty easy, this isn't professional sports, don't spend so freaking much money.

This thread is hilarious.

For years, this board has been saying a UCF&USF package deal.

Now, everyone has accepted truth. USF will be left behind, because they made the right moves too late.

TCU did it right, and UCF has built a strong resume.

Expansion is not ONLY about football... so what else does UCF have?

Remember prior to last year when Memphis was even in the discussion? Me neither. We can easily be a flavor of the week again. See last years Athlon preview.
