Another Boren quote that should be paid attention to:

"There could be some slight loss of revenue from bowl games and other sources, but if the conference carefully selects additional members, based upon their media markets and fan base support, the amount should increase rather than decrease."   Link

If that is a prerequisite, USF fans that remain should settle into AAC exile.

Students and fans will return if the team can get going again.

Students show up whenever there is excitement around the  team or the team is doing well. Ditto for our "fanbase".  I think that there are a lot of USF fans left...but let's be honest there hasn't been a lot to cheer about since 2011. However that is changing. Our new AD seems to "get it" ...and if CWT's team can turn the corner on the field this year matched by the recruiting momentum of the last three years then I like our chances to become relevant again.

The Sun Dome was rocking for those two women's NCAA tournament games that we hosted. I think we have a potential fan base out there, beyond the "die hards," who are just starving for some consistency out of USF. If we can get those fans back to Ray Jay, it could be like 2007 all over again. All we need is some consistency, and I think we can convert many of the casual USF'ers into more "die hard."

The key is what is the criteria for 'fan base support"  ..... and if it's contributions, hopefulyy they put a ton more importance to tv markets. We are getting our ass kicked in the Contributions department.

Good point...exactly what constitutes "fan base support"? I'm thinking it has more to do with throwing chips onto the table than putting together a road trip to Tejas. The 'slight loss of revenue from bowl games and other sources' is looking to be offset by 'fan base support'.

Contributions and attendance (and general community interest, I imagine) are providing major asskicks.

Have there been any USF rumors?

I think the discussion is mostly about reality.

First post," RT @JFowlerCBS: ACC in talks with UConn, Louisville, USF and Cincinnati about 14th team to replace Maryland, source told @CBSSports".

That was in this thread, one of many such speculations, especially when Yoda is involved. Have any come true?
