Expansion is a go for Big 12!! Will they take two or 4? USF should have the edge if they want the Florida market. Recruitung in TB is amazing.

Just stop, BD.  Please.

Your request needs more exclamation marks. I decided.

Ugh, dude, you're starting to make a case for going on 'ignore'.

IF the Big 12 were going to expand, I would think there would be certain guidelines that would have to be met to be considered. Obviously football, and all the intangibles that go with it, in some capacity, would be on that list.

What else? In order of importance. I assume football is #1? Academics? Endowments? Overall stability of the athletic department?

There have been plenty of examples during conference realignment, both inclusion and exclusion, to show that football is definitely not #1 in importance. There is absolutely no way to even guess what the B12's criteria's going to be.  If it's name recognition, BYU and BSU would be frontrunners. if it's a travel partner for WVU, UC and UConn would probably be there. TV markets and/or recruiting ground, us and the Kanigits. Could be looking at the financial support, UC and UConn show up again. Could be a combination of some .... the only category we have a leg up on most is "Travelling fans access to tickets".

They ( the conferences and networks...well network)  want  new TV viewers   to generate new TV contracts.

Tampa Orlando together is the number 4 TV market in the country. But, U Texas drives this boat IMO. Without a new contract that makes up for the new mouths at the table, nothing will happen. Nothing. I'm betting on nothing for a good long time.

If they add Florida to the big 12 it will be both usf and ucf. They won't add only one when they add nothing individually but add value with both together

That seems reasonable, but who knows what they would be thinking if/when they decide to expand.

A USF/UCF package deal makes a lot of sense for several reasons.  You get recruiting trips to Florida every year.  You get access to a large TV market (although our impact on it is very small for right now).  You bring over a building rivalry.

Again, it depends on what their criteria is at the time of expansion

i'd think we'd have to agree to take a half revenue share or somthing along those lines

We should be willing to take 1/10th. It's still more than the AAC.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
