Expansion is a go for Big 12!! Will they take two or 4? USF should have the edge if they want the Florida market. Recruitung in TB is amazing.

IF the Big 12 were going to expand, I would think there would be certain guidelines that would have to be met to be considered. Obviously football, and all the intangibles that go with it, in some capacity, would be on that list.

 

What else? In order of importance. I assume football is #1? Academics? Endowments? Overall stability of the athletic department?

This is what I assume

Makes perfect sense

 

Two big markets

Other conference teams can schedule to plat at a Florida team each year.

Built in rivalry with 2 big (size-wise) schools which can really help penetrate/expand the market being in a "P5" conference

Non-Revenue sports can schedule to play both teams in a weekend, which makes it MUCH cheaper/easier logistics wise)

And you're not leaving a team on an island (see WVU)
