This is a Texas guy-

BYU was ready to join Big East prior to Rutgers leaving, maybe they finally see the writing on the wall.

Tuxedo Yoda â€@TuxedoYoda

Was told that, if B12 goes to 14, some are favoring 2 from East & 2 from West. FSU/Clemson & BYU/Boise ST.

Would make some sense now that some say B1G may be passing over the VA/NC schools (screwing around to long), and may now be going BC and GT.

Saw a Orlando Sentinel opinion article said that UCF should not go into the Big East. It also said that the only thing USF had on them was being in the Big East. I guess they forgot about never beating USF in football.

USF is in a larger media market, and probably better football recruiting area.

That changes, the recruiting. When I was in high school the state champs were on the mid east coast, Maitland.

A general recruiting area is more than just one individual or a high school team.

Guys. No way B12 takes USF. In my mind the only way USF (or UCF) move up is the ACC route

gtfo. UCF is lucky to be in this shiz version of the Big East, we are not.

You are correct there. It was the previous version of the BE that we were lucky to be in.

The Big 12 only taking FSU and not Miami would be good for the ACC future. Wish the Virginia's would get off their asses and split so the ACC could possibly keep Georgia Tech.

I'd love to be in a conference with Tech and Miami.

I'd just love to be in a different conference

If there end up being 4 super conferences it really wont matter if we got into the ACC or stayed in the Big East. There needs to be some pillars remaining in the ACC for it to be viable. Losing Clemson, FSU, VaTech, and Miami leaves a gaping hole of football powers. Though, Miami is not what they once were, they still geta shred of respect nationally. G-Tech isn't a super power, but they get some respect as well.

If the ACC gets squeezed to what the Big East was the last few years, there will be a few years of a more lucrative deal, but it will eventually collapse into the second tear and it wont matter anymore.

I totally agree Martin. Guys, I get the feeling we are going to get the rug pulled out from us no matter what we do or where we go.

I read a post on the NCAAbbs board - sorry, but I don't remember which one, but I agree with that poster's sentiments when he said, "as soon as the 'valuable' teams are out of the ACC, the powers that be will figure out a way to rewrite the rules yet again and further consolidate power amongst the four conferences.". Once the big boys are gone from the ACC, do you think anyone will give a **** about them?

It's the carrot on the end of the stick. At this point in the game, I don't think were ever going to sniff a BCS game. Look at all of the angst against Kent State possibly playing in the Orange Bowl. In a few years, that could be us and no matter what we do on the field against the competition we play, it will never be good enough.

Let's face it, the Florida teams the B12 really wants are FSU and Miami. After reading endless articles and opinions, it seems what everything is waiting on is Maryland's exit fee from the ACC. Once Maryland has set the bar, no where close to $50m I believe, everyone will run to the door. Then once the 'prestige' programs are gone, then we would get the call up to the ACC. Big deal.

I can see it now, ESPN and the others will constantly trash and belittle the ACC much the way they are now the NBE with the additions of Tulane and ECU. They will sniff and look down their noses at us yet again.

I said this before and I still think the best course of action is for the NBE, CUSA and MW to break off and do it's own thing and get ready for the long haul. I know some of you hate the idea, thinking it's tantamount to admitting defeat, but I think it's time to be realistic.

If the moves being made really are towards 4 super-conferences of 16, where do we fit in? SEC and B12 will have FL covered with UF, FSU and Miami. Pac12 is out for us geographically and B10 is out of the question. No one has ever mentioned FSU or Miami going to the B10 and UF certainly isn't leaving the SEC.

Get ready guys, this is where we are and this is where we are going to be.

This is pretty much what ESPN is pushing:

A few weeks ago, I asked Alabama coach Nick Saban what he thought about college football's recent conference realignment, which altered the sport's landscape like never before.

Much to my surprise, Saban said he believed there needed to be only 60 to 70 FBS teams in four or five conferences, and they needed to play one other and no one else.

Basically, Saban admitted he's a proponent of superconferences and programs that are financially able to compete in big-time football, and to hell with everyone else.
