$6 million. And then whatever you feel like throwing out there for lost revenues as a result of PR associated with being in the playoff.

Chump change. Indiana threw us a couple million just to cancel a game. I know they are in the B1G, but the money is about the same. What is it? $198 million in revenue among 10 teams?

The Conference announced its total revenue for the 2013-14 season as a record $221 million, which is an increase from last year’s distribution of $198 million and $8.1 million more than projected.  The conference will distribute approximately $212 million to its member schools. Eight of the Big 12 schools each will receive approximately $23 million.

Okay, so this championship issue may not be that costly to the B12.

It's more like an itch, not a wound.

They will think about it and may sit: "We ain't divvying up our money to two poor schools so we can get a championship game."

6 mil isn't chump change compared to 20 mil...

Indiana paid us $700k, iirc.

On second thought, TV money is the wildcard here.

If they took in USF and UCF, their TV money would grow, so that might be something.

Other schools don't have this wildcard, and so the revenue return doesn't make sense for the Big12.

*Can they redo their TV contracts if they added the Florida teams?

Yes, the problem is USF/UCF doesn't grow their TV deal enough to compensate adding them.  Maybe overtime an argument could be made, but neither are a big enough draw to add the $50 million per year (each) need to maintain the current deal.  Though realistically no obtainable candidate will.

It's got to be sold that adding the biggest markets and allowing the schools to grow would lead to the biggest long term revenue chance.  The problem is Texas may not be around the B12 long enough to care about the long term gains.  At least that's the way they are thinking.

So which do you think is more likely? Texas to the B1G (likely alone) or the PAC (likely with TT, OU, OSU)

I don't think they end up going anywhere.  It's the trump card in the back of their mind though.  I don't think it ever plays out.

We reporters pressed Long more, because while he said at the outset that Ohio State was a "decisive" No. 4 and the co-champ factor had nothing to do with the Big 12 snub, nothing else he said seemed to match that. He kept referring to the fact that Ohio State's extra game against a quality opponent tipped the balance between the Buckeyes and Baylor, which finished No. 5. He kept remarking that the four teams that made the playoff won conference titles. So, the notion that the Big 12 couldn't present a champion had to hurt the Bears and Horned Frogs. It might not have been the only reason the Big 12 got left out, but it had to weigh heavily, otherwise Long wouldn't have brought up those factors the way he did.

Still wondering if Baylor had played a better team that last game if it may have gone different ... and I guess winning a conference title is different than being a conference champion?

Yes, I think the quality of the last opponent outweighed it being a championship game and I think that the Big XII thinks so too. But how do they schedule it so that occurs each year?

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
