FSU will more than likely get slaughtered by Oregon more-so than Alabama. If they had trouble vs Tech, they are in for a world of hurt vs the Ducks.

Bama has a big flaw but its also their greatest strength:  Amari Cooper.  When he gets covered and can't break off for huge gains, Bama struggles and becomes surprisingly mortal.  When he is able to outrun his cover and make those plays, Bama dominates. 

 

As for the Big XII.  We should to our best to lobby for a spot maybe with Cinci and UCF.  I don't think football-wise we can make a huge "we deserve this argument."  But we have a solid athletic program overall.  That's assuming the Big XII makes a move to increase membership and don't just settle on the petition to have a championship game.

 

Our Tampa market has shrunk... though

 

 

We need to make some shady backroom deals -- to be chosen over UCF and Cincy

 

 

USF wont be chosen over UCF.

That scenario eroded in 2011.

 

It's now either UCF or (more likely IMO) a group join.

 

I don't see any deal that would be somehow be worth picking USF over UCF

If the big 12 expands they will look at all sports and academics not just football. This would look good to them but we have to improve in all sports and overhaul football to get us above and beyond the 2007 level we were at.

I think everybody on here looks at win/losses and other immediate factors too much.

 

For conference affiliation, they look at revenue dollars spent on the athletics program, infrastructure, stability, and everything else. Obviously, the football program speaks the loudest, then comes men's bball.

 

USF isn't that bad. But when we were competing against WVU and Louisville for a conference spot, well, that was not going to go our way.

 

Right now, however, we are just as good as anybody that's available. That isn't saying much for the available teams.

 

But when you add in potential, USF has a lot of potential because of our size and the market (hell, we are a sleeping giant! zzzzz), not to mention football fever in Florida.

 

And the nation has seen what USF could turn into, if conditions are right. We have a new face now, with our new AD.

I agree with dogma, I don't see a way for USF. I wish I did, but I don't see it based only on potential.
