It's all about the money.

Here's what I'm looking at:

The ACC needs to plummet in the new system. If FSU stumbles, they are out of the money picture.

The Big 12 minus 2, they need to miss out, too.

If these two leagues see a big change in their revenue because of the new system, something will happen this summer.

If somehow FSU can get away from the ACC, the Big 12 would take them in a heartbeat. As I recall, FSU was losing money by just going to a bowl, and not the national championship. We need these two leagues to do some shaking and baking this coming summer.

Last year, the Big 12 earned quite a bit. If they are out of the new system, that's going to hurt them. They will want more legitimacy -and have a playoff.

And we need to stop looking so ugly in football, if we want to get invited to the next dance (expansion)...

A lot of ifs. But I have hope!

What your missing is FSU and all the teams in the ACC signed a Grant of Rights deal. Meaning if FSU is leaving it won't be for at least 10 years.   Reason being all their TV money would go to the ACC for 10 years if they tried to leave.  No school is doing that.

Dude, GOR makes things more difficult but is not foolproof.  Most attorneys I've seen comment on the subject believe it isn't really enforceable.  In any breach of contract situation it all comes down to monetary damages for breaching the contract.   It always comes down to $$$.  Every year that passes, the $$$ goes down and makes it easier for a team to escape.

This is 100% correct.  The ACC would have to PROVE that a team leaving actually caused financial harm... if the TV contracts did not change, there is no technical harm, so there would be very little a court would attempt to do.

ESPN knows this is the case... and could keep the ACC happy and still move FSU to the Big 12, if it wanted to.

Although here is the interesting part.  If the Big 12 poaches FSU, and FSU settles the lawsuit for breach of contract, the Big 12 could be open to a similar escape ... if Texas or Oklahoma decided the Pac 12 offer might be better... (or if Texas wanted to move to the Big Ten).

The Big 12 would be on a slippery slope ... basically saying the ACC GOR isn't worth anything means their GOR isn't worth anything....

Which means ESPN could be cutting it's nose off to spite its face, with the partnership Fox has with the Pac 12 and Big Ten.

Would FSU want to leave the ACC for the Big 12 since they have an easier path to a national title in the acc then in the big 12

First, the Big 12 really isn't that difficult.  Most teams in the B12 can't play defense worth a lick.  Baylor reminded us of that in the bowl game last year.

Second, those situations are fluid.  Plenty of teams in the ACC have the wherewithal to improve and/or become more consistent.

More importantly, however, is that you no longer need to be undefeated to be in NC contention.  And strength of schedule becomes more important than an easy path.  The committee is heavily weighing strength of schedule.

Most importantly, the vast majority of schools can use more millions.  In the end $$$ generally trumps all of these little things, like NCs.   FSU went twenty years between NCs, that isn't something you plan on.  That is a nice bonus when it happens.

You like to point how how you're all about "facts," so I figured I would help keep that streak going for you.  A simple "thank you" would have sufficed, and you're welcome.

Has it really come to this ?

And it only took 335 pages ...
We should get back to important business, like do you get a chicken tender or Italian sub from Publix?
more importantly, how do you get one in virginia???
Nearest publix to Virginia is in Charlotte NC
Wouldn't the one outside Raleigh, in Cary, be closer ...?
According to publix wiki page there are only 2 stores in North Carolina. One in Asheville and the other in Charlotte. If there is one near Raleigh it probably would be closer

http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Publix

I'm not aware of a Publix in Raleigh...if there's one there it's a game changer for me. I'll make the drive today and be couchgating with Publix subs by 4:00!

We are getting our first Publix in Winston Salem, 2015 across from the Whole Foods.

The Big 12 is more unstable that the ACC. FSU would be stupid to leave since they are the king of their conference and would not be in the Big 12. They aren't going anywhere.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
