Still, I feel like the media and national coverage in '07 when USF broke the top 10 for a couple of weeks was wayyy more intense on the bulls (I know because I wasn't a USF student  or fan at the time but you couldn't go anywhere without hearing about the USF team) than any national coverage UCF got all year last year and they finished in the top 10; minus probably after the Louisville win and even then the attention focused all on Bortles after that not UCF as a whole. Common people really don't want to buy into UCF and its disneyland demeanor.

I don't like UCF.

But, the fact is that they have the 10 win seasons, the BCS win, the top 25 ranking, etc. It doesn't matter one bit who they beat to get the wins. What matters is the perception.

Until USF puts together a similiar run the converstion on a national level will continue be the same.

Because of the level of play, last year was the only one that has any significance. If they would have had the same year while still in CUSA they would not have gone to a BCS bowl game and no one, but them and some of the insecure people around here, would even know the difference between USF and UCF.

If they lose more than 2 games this year they fade back into irrelevance.

Look at NIU as an example. Other than die hard football fans, how many can even name their mascot without looking it up?

The reality is, on the national scale, other during blips of success for each of the 2 schools, UCF and USF have not done anything of note to merit being considered a "powerhouse"or "Big time" program. It takes a few years of consistently being in the top tier and beating the bigger programs.

UCF performed better than UF (and us)... But that in no way makes them better.

The best of all possible worlds would be for the Big 10 to take the Gators, and the SEC to add FSU to replace them, and we get to go to the ACC, where we've always belonged.
