Welcome back off the ledge. Boise State U. was in the Top 25 in the US for 5 yrs running(finished Top 5- 3 times IIRC). They had less revenue. were in poorer recruiting area and were in a lousier conf, than we are now. What did they do? WIN, Win and Win.

My final point. True or false. Financially...

Starting in 2014, big 5 conference schools, from the Texases to the Iowa States are in a better position financially today, than they were last year.

The numbers say yes. And that was my original point before you starting throwing other factors in.

old big east tv payout was $3.7M for football schools. new payout is $1.8M per school

 

old big est payout was higher for basketball than it was for football.

 

we still got a fat payout for the split.

 

I bet total revenue difference is less than 5% not including the fat payout. we can make that up easily with athletic fees

 

 

One hand you want to get out of the whole money game. On the flip side you want to charge the students more in fees. Make up your mind.

 

My mind is made up. I've never wanted USF to spend such ridiculous amounts on athletics.

 

the charging students more fees would be for the chicken littles who somehow think us reducing our revenue by 5% is going to ruin our program.

 

personally I don't think the students should pay a dime towards athletics at any taxpayer funded university. especially when ADs and coaches make millions.

nah they won't be sealed out.

 

the playoffs may only be 4 now but with the 100's of millions they are leaving on the table it will soon go to 8.

 

I think the shift towards playoffs will be much better for all involved including us.

 

we would never get a chance, just like boise never had the chance, to prove it on the field in a national championship game but now if we can make the playoffs then we can earn our way in.

 

they may have thrown boise a bone by letting them play in a meaningless bcs bowl game but they were never going to let them play for a mythical national championship.

 

BTW that goes for plenty of P5 teams too. the bottom 2/3rds really had no chance to play for a mythical title even if they went undefeated.

 

personally I think it's great for the future. now if they would only get rid of the corrupt meaningless bowl games....

I will say this to all the USF fans that are thinking about giving up on supporting USF. I have been a fan of the football program since day 1! Supported the program when we were playing in Div 1AA with a schedule full of lower division schools. Watched the program grow to hopefully get invited to play C-USA football in 2001 instead they made us wait until 2003 because of the UAB situation. So you can say that I am used to seeing USF getting screwed or left out of conference BS.  I expect USF to keep fighting the good fight and I will continue to support this program. I will tell you that I have become less interested in watching the other teams in college due to the conference shifting, but my support for the USF program has never waivered. I will be happy with the AAC and be thankful for the Miami Beach Bowl or Jamaican Bowl, but that is just me. I know things are out of our control and that we must win whatever conference we are in.
