On the one hand it seems unfair that the B12 does not have a ccg, but their champion actually played everyone with no benefit of an unbalanced schedule.

Example is Missouri this year playing in a down sec east and avoiding Bama, lsu and auburn in the west.

True, but if Missouri win the East, they will face either Bama, LSU, or Auburn.

Right. That is why the 12-14 team conferences need the championship game and the 10 team conference does not.

Not disagreeing with you, IMO there are valid reasons on both sides. The CCG is purely a money grab.

Probably depends on the strength of the rest of the conference. Take Baylor this year. With a relatively weak B12 this year I think it would be difficult to get them in to consideration for one of those 4 spots. Timing of when you beat the top tougher teams does make a difference. When there is a Championship game and you beat another good team late in the year, when it is fresh on the minds of the committee will make a bigger impact than beating a top team early in the year.

What if, and this is WAY out there, but what if the P5 decided that they like the B12 idea of only having 10 teams that play everybody every year?

At the end of the regular season you would have a conference champion and those go straight to the play-offs. ESPN could keep the bowl games as reward to 6-6 or better teams.

There's already been talk of another conference, so why would the true power teams have to carry lesser teams in their conference when they really don't add anything other than an easy conference win?

They add TV markets and fans. Look at big ten network business model which SEC is also adopting. Look at the two conferences who have been driving expansion, the SEC and the Big 10. Big 12 and ACC expansions were reactionary, big 10 and SEC were proactive for their TV markets and revenue. Edited by Gismo

and if the had 9 "marquee" games every year? I'm not suggesting that it would happen, just throwing something at the fan.

What if the SEC and B10 went to 16-20 teams with the "conference champion" from each side making the playoffs? Now you have an AFC-NFC type system...

Look at what has happened the last 10 years.  That ship sailed a long, long time ago.

More TV markets and more fans and more games is better than less. 14 TV markets and fan bases are better than 10. Exposure in 8 states is better than 6.

Again, we are AAC for a long while. That is the way it is.

This would be a decent conference - IF the money was on par with the P5 conferences.  Big if, though.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
