The only way I see CCG being a realistic criteria for the playoff is if the playoff were expanded to 8 teams.  Then the 8 team playoff would have to be the P5 champions and 3  at large.

 

I think we'll get to an 8 team playoff in a fairly rapid period of time.  Probably within 4-6 playoffs.  As P5 conferences get left out, there will be uproar.  The system is already built to leave out one of the conferences, and realistically could potentially leave out 2 or 3.

Their expansion committee reviewed financials submitted by Cincinnati, UCF, USF and UCONN.

Fox and ESPN were part of the appraisal and they decided that none of the candidates offered enough value for consideration without impetus from the playoff committee.

Again, that's not a slight to Cincinnati, UCF, or USF.

 

So, it was a slight to UCONN though, right? lol

 

 

That's why the hillbilly putting UCF and not USF in the other sentence isn't a big deal .... seems a bit confused at times.

There have been bowl games added. There's been basketball games added, all be it outside the tournament, but they still added "play in"games.

The whole forcing conference championship game is a BS rumor created by the "expansion guys" to explain expansion.

Trust me, this would have been addressed well before they all signed the ink on a lengthy deal for a playoff.

Yeah, sure.  School presidents have shown such forward thinking and well thought out processes in the past, they surely did the same thing with this.

That doesn't mean the Big 12 won't expand, it just won't expand because of the playoff. An 11-1 Big 12 team has a legit chance of making the playoff. Championship game or not...

 

I do not think it is that simple.  A lot of what goes into rankings is perception of one's body of work.  It remains to be seen whether having a conference game screws an Alabama and allows an Oklahoma to take its place.  In an ambiguous situation, someone will get screwed, or feel as if they are getting screwed - thus upsetting the apple cart. 

 

I am not saying this guy is not right about his information.  It sounds like he is spot on about our chances of getting in the B12 in the near future.

When does anyone learn that MHver, The Dude and Tuxedo Yoda are clueless idiots who don't have an inside track to anything. Their mysterious "sources" are always unamed and they are never right.

The things about championship games is that, in the SEC at least, it is like a free ticket. The SEC champion has gone to and won the national title 7 years in a row. A championship game has been great for the the SEC.
