The other conference can be miffed all they want by the Big 12.

The Big 12 teams play every team within their league and there should be some credit given to that.

This isn't about "should be".  This is about reality, and it is a risk for the best team in your conference to play an additional game against a quality opponent.  The other four conferences are taking that risk, they will ensure that the B12 does as well.  Why would they want the Big 12 to have an easier path to the playoffs?

Does the NCAA force conferences to have a CCG?

No, the other P5 conferences that all have a CCG.  If you are Florida, why do you want to go undefeated and lose in the CCG when Texas can go undefeated and go straight to the playoffs without taking part in a CCG?  Why would you give schools in the B12 that competitive advantage over schools in your own conference?

In that scenario it would still be likely that Florida would be in the 4 team playoff.

Big 12 doesn't have a competitve advantage since they actually play every team within the league.

On the one hand it seems unfair that the B12 does not have a ccg, but their champion actually played everyone with no benefit of an unbalanced schedule.

Example is Missouri this year playing in a down sec east and avoiding Bama, lsu and auburn in the west.

Bingo.

Leads to more credibility for the Big 12.

If the Big XII does not want to expand, then I think the WVU outlier will eventually fail.and I would think that WVU would try its best to join the SEC or ACC.    $$$$ is a big deal   .....  but they need a travel partner

If that happens the Big XII would expand to at least 12 by adding Cincinnati and BYU or UCF.

So no one's running in circles about this line.  Almost surprised it wasn't brought up.  Or is everyone just so numb to the whole issue no no one cares.

Was just about to post something about that.

I remember when they used to write about us.  We just need to beat UCF again and they will ... again.

If it doesn't come from the BM, it's just white noise .....

Post makes sense. Gut feeling is that Big 12 is stable and happy and waiting to see abuot USF and UCF.

Problem is that in life you buy low and sell high. Waiting on a "down" asset is not the best idea. If USF would forego some future revenues for membership that's a good deal for Big 12. their loss.

Their expansion committee reviewed financials submitted by Cincinnati, UCF, USF and UCONN.

Fox and ESPN were part of the appraisal and they decided that none of the candidates offered enough value for consideration without impetus from the playoff committee.

...

Again, that's not a slight to Cincinnati, UCF, or USF.

So, it was a slight to UCONN though, right? lol

The whole forcing conference championship game is a BS rumor created by the "expansion guys" to explain expansion.

Trust me, this would have been addressed well before they all signed the ink on a lengthy deal for a playoff.

That doesn't mean the Big 12 won't expand, it just won't expand because of the playoff. An 11-1 Big 12 team has a legit chance of making the playoff. Championship game or not...
