The other conference can be miffed all they want by the Big 12.

The Big 12 teams play every team within their league and there should be some credit given to that.

Here, here!! .... or is it "Hear, hear?"

This isn't about "should be".  This is about reality, and it is a risk for the best team in your conference to play an additional game against a quality opponent.  The other four conferences are taking that risk, they will ensure that the B12 does as well.  Why would they want the Big 12 to have an easier path to the playoffs?

Does the NCAA force conferences to have a CCG?

Nope.  Ben Franklin does.

No, the other P5 conferences that all have a CCG.  If you are Florida, why do you want to go undefeated and lose in the CCG when Texas can go undefeated and go straight to the playoffs without taking part in a CCG?  Why would you give schools in the B12 that competitive advantage over schools in your own conference?

What the B12 does is have a TRUE champion ....***** the money grubbing other conferences. Let them roll the dice on whether their CCG helps or hurts their perceived regular season "champion".

If a weighted conference championship game makes it into the formula the Big 12 will move quickly to get to 12.

So the only difference between what "The Dude" is saying and what everyone else is saying is that "The Dude" thinks a CCG won't be part of the formula.  The others are saying that a CCG will be part of the formula.

The issue is if the guidelines for who gets selected for the 4 team playoff is made by a "majority" of the committee members, then the committe make determine that additional weight is given to a team that wins their CCG.  May be tough taters for what the Big12 wants if it's majority rules.

Wait a minute.  The other conferences are money grubbing????  The Big 12 won't expand because of the money!

The other driver behind a CCG is that it implies the CCG is the first round of the playoffs, which keeps them from having to expand the playoffs further.

I would think, hope, that a teams total body of work is what's under consideration on a year to year basis. The CCG will help/hurt teams on a year to year basis. Will probably take a few years for the B12 to see how it will really affect them.
