I could be wrong, but seeing this whole Houston to the B1G nonsense has dampened by enthusiasm for "Expansion Rumors."  Undermines his credibility, because I think of that as a much bigger stretch than USF/UCF to BXII.

Its just a way to keep building on this thread.  An account that says they have no sources and just rehash BS rumors is not going to break alignment news.

To my understanding St Pete College could apply to the SEC if they wanted to. So that Houston thing just means to me they know Big 12 is unlikely and they're trying to get out.

It definitely is different than the rumor cycle that saw Louisville, Futgers and Maryland go. We're being Mentioned a lot this time, and that can only be a good thing

@ExpansionRumors looks like they were just created on Twitter and so far they just look like a hub of other people's information like MHver3 and TuxedoYoda. I don't think they claim to have their own sources like The Dude, MHver and Yoda

That would be a gamble for everyone involved, but if it gets us in the Big 12, that's a new lease on life for us.

It will no doubt be harder though-we are going to have to work harder to be winners. WVU went from being a dominationg BCS contender to being middle of the road in the Big 12. Who knows? Florida is excellent for talent, perhaps we'll have a better chance.

 

We would have to work harder but set the bar high and recruit up.  Yeah the geography is weird, but so was the former Big East (and this would have higher profile teams IMO). 

 

Also, when it comes to the B12, I think a good defense would be a great equalizer.  We could bring a different flavor to that league if we recruited up on defense.  It wasn't that long ago when we had future NFL defensive players on all positions of the field. 

 

I watched some WVU this year... They had games where they outright sucked on defense and when going got tough on offense, it got ugly.  Some of these teams that go all in on offense are sexy to talk about until they run into a game where you can't score a million points.  Sort of like what happens when a team like Oregon runs into Stanford.  How many games did we get in where we "had no chance" to stop WVU and our LBs were driving them into the ground?  That FEELS LIKE a lifetime ago, but who says we can't get back?
