Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought FSU feasted off a soft ACC schedule for years.  Miami feasted off the Big East.  When was the last time someone from the B10 other that Mich or Ohio State has won the national championship? I honestly don't know but it always seems to be them.

Again, just my opinion but it seems a case can be made that you have a better chance of doing well if you are in a diminished league.  Sure you might not win the NC but if you can string multiple 10 wins seasons together you swell your fanbase and give you better options when leagues expand.

Correct.  You don't need to schedule top tier teams OOC. Better to have an UNC or Maryland on your schedule than Bama.  Win...win....win...

To be fair, Miami hasn't exactly been a juggernaut over the years and OOC scheduling usually happens many years in advance. Who knew that Miami would pick up a stellar QB in the transfer portal just before playing us and now have the #1 passing attack in the country? If Miami is mid like usual we get an interesting game to market locally, big crowd, and decent shot at winning.

As for Bama? Yeah, that's a reach. But I'm OK with one reach game a year. Need to keep the recruits interested despite our lackluster in-conference schedule.

I also have some difficulty giving a **** about teams on the west coast.  I don't think I have ever given WSU or OSU a second thought.  Freso, Boise, San Diego?  Sure solid teams no disrespect but they are on the other side of the country.

A portion of the casual fan base doesn't even know what league we are in.  Yes, some people sitting at the games have no idea.  My wife asks me constantly and my kids probably don't even know leagues exist.

They do know who FAU is or UCF, FSU, Tulane or Duke or anyone on the East coast.  I can just hear some of the casual fans asking, why are we playing Fresno?

My son engaged in smack talk with the FAU tour guide when he visited.  They still talk about it.  I know he will watch the FAU game with more interest.

Ok, now that the fantasy part of the schedule is over can we now get down to the important stuff?  Tulane and Memphis.  These two teams should be what this team should have been aiming at for the the last 4 weeks.  The next two games will dictate where this program goes.  After that we have very winnable games.  Tulane and Memphis are our measuring stick, not Bama and Miami.

We need wins in both game.  Memphis at home is big.

Also, we must beat Tulane and Memphis for optics of realignment.

AAC "power rankings" would look good with USF sitting at the top.

If you are investing in a stadium, your main concern is filling it for gameday right?  What fills the stands?  Winning records, familiar teams, winnable games against well know OOC oponents.  We can do that in AAC I would think.

Still trying to understand the ACC sitting at 17 schools?  Take USF make it 18!

I think Notre Dame is "technically 18" for non-football plus their schedule arrangement with the ACC

Yes, but getting blue bloods to a 35k OCS will be next to impossible.  We need to focus on the NC States and Indiana's of the world.

We certainly don't need to be making 2-for-1 deals just to schedule juggernauts that crush us. Let's schedule more 1-for-1s with other programs at our level. Alabama is a level above. If Alabame will do a 1-for-1, then okay, schedule them.. But they will not do that. I'd like to see more OOC games against teams like Pitt, Louisville, WVU, UNC, etc. Basically, let's try and schedule ACC games, since that's the conference we want to be in. Even if we did beat Alabama, it doesn't increase our odds of joining the SEC, so i'm not sure what the point is exactly.

You are correct, but if you look at the AAC we have ECU, Charlotte, FAU, Temple and Navy as true east coast teams.  All the rest are  in the middle of the country.

Th whole thing sucks, but unless the ACC collapses we are stuck

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
