I dont know who MHver3 is but I have always thought it could be Mike Florio.

I don't know who Mike Florio is but I have always thought it could be Tuxedo Yoda.

I can't imagine UCF and Cincy being among the "fat" being trimmed, if the goal is to get to 12 schools. But Cincy was specifically excluded, and BYU not in the mix. Maybe Cincy is joining the B12 with BYU.

Seems like there would have to be more western schools to be viable. Colorado State? Fresno State?

Revenue wise, looks like the next four (excluding Cincy) would be: UCF, Memphis, New Mexico and Utah according to this link:

http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sports/college/story/2012-05-14/ncaa-college-athletics-finances-database/54955804/1

I have seen the premise of Cincy for all sports and BYU for just football. That gives 10 home / 10 away games for Bball and BYU football for money got TV.

Cincy makes a lot of sense due to Huggins ties and Cincy AD was WVU MAC director.

I'm still not sure USF is headed to the B12. To me, it made sense for a fleeting moment and now it does not.

Cincy will never do anything significant in the B12, IMO.

I am excited about the idea of the "best" of AAC & MWC merging - the Metro, at last?

I am curious how, if this comes to fruition how money is going to change hands once again.

Dumb question, if Cincy does bolt - do they give up their BE exit money windfall?

Of course I encourage him Trip. If I'm bored at work I want something to do.

Seriously, I love this stuff.  Right now there is a lull in sports action, might as well toss some ideas around.

In any case, it looks like things aren't done moving yet.

One of my favorite P5/U5 articles yet:

Former Oklahoma State offensive coordinator Todd Monken is entering his first year as head coach at Southern Mississippi and he minced no words on the subject at Conference USA Media Days.

“I would propose to (the power conferences) this: If you want to split off, let’s just do it that way, but you play each other, and you don’t get to play us then,” Monken was quoted as saying by the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

And he wasn’t finished.

“Some of those teams get bowl eligible when they go 2-6 in their league and they go 6-6,” he said. “Well, you’ll be 2-10 or 3-9 and it won’t feel so **** salty.”

Fact is, Monken is right on the mark. Look over the schedules of teams from the Gang of 5 and see how they load up on schools from the Unfortunate 5 — always at home mind you. They have no trouble counting those games in their win totals in order to get to a bowl game.

But Monken also calls out those schools.

“Schools at our level, until we get done prostituting ourselves, are never going to really see those teams come play you,” he said.

Oh, but they are indeed being played in another sense.

“I’d love to play Auburn at home, they’re not coming,” he said.

“I bet you’ll find the records of schools in our league are pretty good when they get to play teams at home. They just don’t get to play them because they need the money or someone else will do it.”

Keep Monken’s words in mind next time you hear the G5 pontificating. And remember how many of their wins came at the expense of the very teams they are trying to marginalize.

And I really think the U5, or Unfortunate 5, nomenclature should stick.  It's much more appropriate than G5, Group of 5.

The answer is YES, UC,UConn and USF are receiving their money on a yearly basis, so if you leave you stop receiving it.

Can't let this die :)

@CTMike78: @RMoore1999 On the B1G’s radar and being vetted. Potentially 13/14 with USF if B12 takes Cinci and BYU.

UConn fans hearing word we are 13/14....

So let me get this straight, Big 12 takes Cincy and BYU and B1G is like, "...oh no you didn't! We'll take USF. What's up now, bitches?!?"
