And if the GOR is 23 years?

Then clearly Tulane, Memphis, and USF are not making the change.

Division I will undergo a major change in the early 2030s... so all of the GORs need to expire at that point.  That is when the "breakaway" will take place, the only questions is who and how many.

Our tv deal in the AAC would almost certainly be worse if we were to get stuck here. The teams in the PAC would be better than what we’d have especially if we have to replace Tulane and Memphis. Who could we bring in that would be an equal?

Hopefully we can get into the AAC or Big 10 but if we don’t the next few years could be really rough.

When u say our TV deal would be worse if we stayed in the AAC, I assume you mean money wise.  One other thing to consider is the AAC is on ESPN, the New Pac7 will be streaming on the CW or some other crappy OTT streaming platform that most of America doesn’t have so our national viewership and whatever brand momentum we have will be gone

Not laughing at your message Jim, laughing at that number.  Truly a great rumor benefitting the Pac8, Part Deux.

And if the GOR is 23 years?

It won’t be 23 years. The only way I see USF staying in AAC now is because they have received information that they will be getting a better offer to be in a better conference before 2030

if that doesn’t happen, then it’s a huge failure by USF administration. So they better be right, because if it’s 2028 and we we are still in a depleted AAC with zero chance at CFP, it will make the Big East fallout be part 1 of the two part destruction of USF football.

Correct, so I would add GOR or any restraint to the analysis.

There's rumored TV money.

Second class teams.

Required independence to leave at will.

I don't see how it comes to be unless the 8PAC is looking to be a short term vehicle for some.

'Twas an exageration to make a point.

Moving to the PAC has pros and cons and that's why it's a dilemma.  There are exit fees to pay, travel concerns and there isn't even a media contract to analyze.   If you stay, does the AAC revenue go down and do we lose conference mates?

As a never ever aacer for me it’s simple, when I said anywhere but here I meant it. It’s a chance to rebrand and reinvent. No longer are we the last ones left, no longer are we never a part of the expanding part of expansion and now we get to breath some new air, see some new faces, change the narrative and directly compete with all of the best of the left and with the first time from an active position. It’s a no brainer and should we try and fail at least we know, at least we did something and guess what the aac will always be there.

The new commissioner was the associate commissioner when the PAC 12 failed, but we trust her to do it right when she's the commissioner?

Hmmm...

Yup.

ESPN has a look in option for the AAC contract in 2026 (same as the one for ACC in 2025)... I have to think if Tulane, Memphis, and UTSA ... the replacements will be from the MWC or possibly Sun Belt - so ESPN will probably look to trim the payments.  (I think C-USA has a GOR to stop teams from leaving)

The AAC deal has a look in for 2026. If the AAC is depleted there is no guarantee that ESPN will provide the league as much money nor linear exposure. We could still be on ESPN but playing weekdays or in ESPNU

Dont fool yourself into think ESPN with their new SEC contract and trying to save money will keep current deal with a depleted AAC

All aac games will be espn+, a random YouTuber could do a better job than most of our espn+ showings. No way you can sell that as a premium.

So I do expect from @puc86 an updated analysis on being a football Independent.
