Why would we ever want to be in a conference with schools from across the country on/ near the West coast? Our 7 pm West coast start times become 10 pm East coast start times. Frequent cross country travel can give unpredictable outcomes in games due to jet lag and fatigue. Even if they mustered up a 6 team Eastern division within the PAC-12 and had the 6 West coasts teams, that still wouldn't be enough for a full season of 12 games to play on just one side of the divide to avoid long travel. Additionally, it's called the PAC-12 (aka PACIFIC-12), USF is located in an Atlantic/ Gulf Coast state on the opposite side of the map -- dumb. If PAC-12 was a Power Conference, I'd be more willing to hold my nose and go for it but the current/ future make-up of the conference + USF, Memphis, Tulane and maybe 3 others in the East will not make this a Power Conference. It's would be a diagonal move at best, but not a huge step up. It'll lock us into another new conference that still isn't where we want to be for another 5-10+ years, at least.

Nobody wants this but survival and relevance is the issue.

That's a perfect summary.

This will eventually cause the ACC to fail like the PAC or B12.  This is just delaying the failure.

Because the AAC is going to be on a level with the Sun Belt.  Today in the AAC, USF has a chance to get into the playoff by winning the AAC.  If Memphis and Tulane join the others in the PAC12, kiss that goodbye.  We don't know what the money will be.  But the PAC12 with the 12 rumored teams will be far and away better than whatever is left of the AAC.  The AAC seems resigned to its fate, talking about a G5 playoff.  USF. Memphis and Tulane have bigger aspirations.

Fsu should started an apology your shirt and instead of a revenge tour t-shirt for their nil. They showed their rears out off the field and publicly whined for 6 plus months.  They didn't show out or up the field for their sec audition versus Georgia(best way to earn respect on the scoreboard)and their three games  this season.Acc should offer them reduced money.

I always like the phrase keeping up when everyone is running toward a cliff.

The biggest risk to joining is that the PAC-12 has no media deal.

The biggest benefit is that it will effectively separate the top 5 conferences from the rest.

Honestly, you might want to keep the new PAC-12 conference small because then for the highest ranked conference champion, your odds are 1/9 instead of 1/16.

A 9 team PAC-12 This would basically guarantee a 12% odds of the playoff for its members.

That’s the best odds any of the members can hope for.

I changed my mind considering we could be 1/9 odds for the playoff slot each year in a weaker conference.

Outside of the conference championship  bid, you’ll basically have to be a top 12 team. The odds of that are also higher with a better SOS which USF can build with the new PAC-12 members and out of conference wins.
