The universities would really benefit from regional Olympic sports, and more national football. 

Three points/questions.

What would be our regional options for other sports? Would another regional conference even accept us if we go a separate route for football? Doubtful

The new PAC conference wouldn't only be a good conference football wise, but also men's basketball wise. San Diego State, Memphis, Colorado State, Boise State are all very good basketball schools. Could also add Gonzaga perhaps for basketball.

We are already travelling to Tulsa, UTSA, North Texas, so we are already playing in a conference now that has long travel distances. Also its not like  Philadelphia is close to us. Our closest member right now is still about a 4 hour drive from Tampa ( FAU)

Agreed. It'd have to be a D1 non-football conference like the Atlantic Sun.
