Maybe we said thanks but no thanks.

I guess I feel like jumping at this West Coast league and their GOR would be playing checkers.

Does anybody realistically think that would be a power conference?

If it gets the best of the AAC, then it would be the closest thing with 2 former P5s and nearly every legitimate G5/P4 candidate.

They only need 2 though so it creates quite the predicament.

FWIW, I've seen some posts saying that the PAC's ideal number is 9, not 8. Not sure what that really means. But taking Memphis, Tulane, and USF from the AAC would pretty much end the AAC as a serious competitor for the G5 spot.

I agree that if Memphis and Tulane say yes, we should as well. We just need to keep the exit fees/GOR buyout reasonable, to keep our P4 dreams alive. In the meantime, a PAC-9 with most or our games against eastern/central time zone teams would seem reasonable.

That's true it would be an AAC killshot.  Since the media narrative is that everyone is trying to dethrone the AAC, maybe this is a thing.

I guess I don't see all the glamor associated with Tulane in Memphis.

I think our goal is to dominate whatever league we're in. We've never done that.

I thought I read that the highest ranking conference champions, regardless of league, gets an invite. Our path to that is pretty straightforward in the AAC.

We're the perfect partner for any conference to add.

Agreed, once we have our stadium I don't see a lot of gaps.

Memphis and Tulane don’t really move the needle much for me. Sure, they improve the AAC, but it’s not like they’re bringing FSU and Clemson money or clout to the table. I am guessing this is supported by tv ratings.

Following them to the PAC, if we’re even invited, isn’t worth complicating a potential ACC or B12 (or B1G invite in the event the whole world goes crazy) move in my eyes.

That's all in the hypothetical contract terms probably being negotiated right now 🤣

They only need 2 but will undoubtedly want to add more. Seven conference games would not make sense playing a full football schedule

I believe UNLV at this point is the only certainty. The hick up right now has something to with the State of Nevada and the other team from Nevada playing in the MW right now.

There are a lot of rumors that Tulane and Memphis are the two they would want. It would make sense on different levels since those are attractive teams and it in essence would destroy their biggest rival the AAC for the playoff spot

Also interesting based on a comment by the OSU AD is that the service academies ( dont play basketball) are not being considered.

If we can hitch a ride with Tulane and Memphis I would be ecstatic playing in this new PAC, both on a football and basketball side of things.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
