The Tulane Green Wave just joined the American Athletic Conference...

That article is not reassuring as a USF fan. They mention Tulane, Memphis, UTSA, and Rice, but nothing about USF.

The only positive I  guess is if they take Rice we can replace them with a good team that has some fan support

However, if Tulane and Memphis move we have to hitch a ride.

Yeah they come as a 2-PAC.  Seems appropriate.

This is CRITICAL.  We have to move with these 2 or we'll be left in the dust.  We need them more than they need us in whatever this next move is.

The article was conjecture primarily dealing with the Pac-12 additions. None of those teams mentioned in the article is in the Eastern time zone ....

Memphis, Tulane, USF hopefully smart enough to not sign a GOR.

Generally not an option to get the TV deal programs will have to sign on.  The question is what kind/size of GOR

Are we considering this?  It looks like a really bad idea.  Travel costs would eat us alive.

Got to play chess not checkers.  We really can't be worried about travel costs when it is necessary to keep in the realignment game. This program is going to need big money no matter what, and no G5 conference TV deal is going to be enough.    Funding NIL and feeding the OCS.  $20M a year in debt service playing in the AAC without Memphis and Tulane? Bringing in OSU and WSU will be bigger names too.  More important is remaining in a somewhat relevant conference.

All of it is contingent on what the other AAC teams do.  If the AAC can stay together then we stay put.

True, but if they go as far East as Tulane, we aren't that much farther East.

Kelly has done a great job recently with coaching hires, OCS,.... However his worth will truly be earned over the next couple of years navigating the realignment scene.  The AAC is about to hit an Iceberg, and we need to push ourselves on the last life raft

We are from the standpoint of being in a different time zone.

True, and I think the only way they can sniff a power spot or even the biggest media deal of the G5 is if they expand east with the best AAC teams (USF, Memphis, Tulane, Navy, Temple, UCONN and ECU). They stopped at 6 and there is a reason for that. If they don’t do this, get a guaranteed playoff spot and a significant media deal, there is no reason for us to leave the AAC for this; even if Memphis leaves. Not being tied to a GoR leaves us more appealing to expansion for the ACC or B12.

I think the issue is that Tulane and Memphis, while still considered "east coast" teams, are in the Central time zone and much further West.  Personally I don't think it makes that much difference but then again not much in college football realignment makes much sense

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
