Because many feel that if one cant be in a Power top 4 conference at the very least its an enticing idea to create a best of the rest Group of Five conference which would undoubtedly get a playoff spot.

But that is not what this PAC# is.  And the best changes every year.  Why would Memphis and Tulane go there?  Oregon State?  SDSU?

Right now its the remaining members of the PAC and the best of the Mountain West.

If they add Memphis, Tulane, and maybe USF they would add the best of the AAC.

At that point they could follow the college landscape and see who else fits the bill, whether its Marshall, Liberty, Appalachian State, Texas State, UTSA... or whomever. As well as the the service academies.

You would no longer have cupcakes on your schedule. Whomever wins this conference would almost be assured a playoff spot. You could lose a few games in that conference and still have the type of resume that gets you that spot, something SMU couldn't do last year.

We see it differently.  Those are still cupcakes.  It solidifies us at a lower level.  No thanks.  Again, I don't think Memphis, Tulane or USF see it as let's get the best of the rest together and do our own thing.  This program's value to the school and "The Bay" is not in being the best of the rest.  It's competing at the highest level.  This is not on the path.

Will OSU and WSU get higher revenues than the other new members of the PAC?  Will legacy AAC teams be offered more money to stay (if indicated)? We need to know the money.

Might be a battle brewing for Air Force between the AAC and PAC.

Yeah if we join the PAC it makes all of my mocking of WVU null and void.  That's the most important part.

It will all depend on how Tulane and Memphis see things since if they decide to leave we will probably try as well, and if they stay we likely stay as well. There is no way we would be invited while Tulane and Memphis aren't.

I am sure conversations between Kelly and his counterparts at Tulane, Memphis, and UTSA are happening as we speak, and if possible we should act as a unison.

:roflmao:  Thinking the same thing.  But his post shows we're not all programmed.  That's some wacky stuff.

And there is no way that Michael Kelly is not in open communications with those schools.

Again, if we get everything we want, and we go as a group, yes, it can happen.  But it is not Fresno, Boise, SDSU, the other one and Oregon St and Wash St attracting us or Tulane or Memphis.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
