It sucks, because this new PAC is NOT a good conference, but it is marginally more intriguing than the American. Both the American and the MWC has/had some really ugly anchors in them. If the PAC becomes the best of those two, it wouldn’t be a bad conference on par with the big 12. With slightly fewer big name state schools.

People say stuff like this but its about staying in the relevant conference and keeping ahead of the realignment monster. Nobody wants to be the next OSU or WSU

ESPN/Fox have what they want - they don't want a minor league PAC 12.  Even the old PAC 12 with teams in the region weren't wanted.  The offer from APPLE wasn't guaranteed money, the payout was based on subscriptions.  I'm not hip with the media, but if anyone knows of anyone interested in paying for TV rights let's talk.  I saw someone said in another thread the CW?  Really?  They stream LIV I believe.  How many people stream that channel?  I haven't watched it since the old days when USF showed up there occasionally (I think).   Likely if they wanted it, it would be subscriber based.  No one wants the PAC#.

They said the same thing about the B12 when it went to market.  Times have changed since then though. The big thing i see is that teams are leaving the MWC to join a PAC conference that does not have a TV deal. Is there something in the works that they are selling?

I don’t see what the big deal is. If you take a bunch of mountain west teams and call them the Pac 12, it is still the mountain west. Why would we want to go join that league? Way further away and not a step up. It’s actually a step down. The American has always been considered a better conference.

Because they are taking the top of the MWC, some of the old PAC conference and looking at potentially taking the top of the AAC. People fail to look at what the AAC would be in that scenario. The AAC is already a shadow of what it was in 2013

Looking says who? All the internet rumor mills? Is there a credible source? This is NOT the move to make imho

Says the stipulation that they need to get up to 8 teams to be eligible for the automatic bid. They are at 6.

I don’t think anyone is psyched about the idea of USF in a conference that consist of these west coast teams but the alternative is potentially Memphis and Tulane (and some Texas teams) leaving the AAC. Consensus seems to be that is a worse fate then joining the PAAC 12 life boat.
