How will the others afford to get out as the settlements will probably be huge. I don’t see the ACC losing much after FSU & Clemson.

Even in a doomsday scenario where only FSU and Clemson have to front the legal fees for a court to find the ACC GOR null and void, the other teams have to actually be wanted in order to leave. And there would still be an exit fee even with a dead GOR. The B1G and SEC are only taking 2 each tops. The Big 12 would only be able to take like 4 tops. That leaves 8 teams still. And there's no guarantee there's enough of a difference with the Big 12 that they'd pay to leave. The ACC will be weaker than the current form sure but it just seems better insulated against a death spiral than the PAC was.

If fsu and Clemson leave the acc still has more quality teams than b12. The current b12 had zero national champions  this millennium. The current acc has three and would have miami. B12 has zero big value blue blood teams for football. The b12 is just the best of the rest the sec, acc, and b1g don't want or need. I don't see that changing.  You have to go back to 1990 to find a current b12 program with a national championship Colorado.

Exactly! Great points and a common sense approach. Thanks

I disagree. I've never had the "passive we are too good attitude". This isn't thinking about being "too good." This is about continuing on the path/trajectory that we're on. We're making strides in our athletic department and we're investing heavily into our facilities and our teams. Jumping ship to another watered down conference - just for the sake of moving - is not the right move. If it put us in a better position, then I'd be for it, but this realignment isn't going to create a new "power conference." So in my opinion it is just a move for the sake of moving. It doesn't get us any closer to our goal and to be honest, we may never reach that goal, but declining a potential invite to the PAC12 isn't going to hurt us either.

I don't know, if Memphis and Tulane were to leave the AAC I think we fall further behind, and we are waiting for someone to save us.   I have yet to see any realignment move have anything to do with facilities.  Optics mean a lot.  If the PAC does not want us, and I am aware of how far Florida is, the optics are not good.

No one is advocating for a move for a move's sake. The thought process is that, even if not a P5 any longer, this conference, with the hypothetical additions of the Eastern teams discussed, will by far and away be the "best of the rest" and will regularly see its conference champion going to the CFP. There would likely be more television money in this rebuilt conference as well. Any step up is one that should be taken at this point in the game, so long as there is an easy out if/when a better option/fit comes along for USF.

I'm not sure this is P5 material, but I think it would boost our road tripping profile at least...

Comments from a Dennis Dodd.  I'm surprised he actually made a few sensible comments.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
