The analysis cannot be based on just looking at the current PAC6, you have to look at the other chips that may fall. If Tulane and Memphis are going to leave the AAC, we have to follow suit. We cannot be stuck in a conference with Charlotte, Temple, FAU, and their ilk. A nightmare scenario would be UTSA, UNT, Memphis, and Tulane to the PAC, with two of those teams becoming more attractive options than USF to the ACC over the next few years.

That nightmare scenario is more likely than you think

AAC and PAC12 are small brands we’ve already surpassed and out grown.

Our peers all left us behind.

UCF, Houston, Cincinnati, USF, actually all similar new brands but all really growing in popularity.

USF got left behind when the other 3 went to the Big12.

From the west, the only three that stands out to me is SDSU, WSU, and Oregon State, but we see WSU and Oregon State are being rejected, I’d say it’s a strong signal their brands are smaller with lower ceiling than USFs.

I think the Arizona universities are also similar to USF.

USF is clearly the top brand not in the top 4 revenue conferences, but it’s because of our location, and being the 4th or 5th brand in Florida, where the conferences already have the top regional brand.

Despite being the best brand outside of a power conference, Florida is saturated, so we’re left out until one of them decides they need more Florida presence.

We should hold out for Big12, Big10, or ACC.

I mostly agree, but Florida is NOT saturated.

Being the 3rd most populous state; we can handle 4 P4 teams.

The ACC currently has 3 NC teams. They can handle 3 FL teams. Bigger state and they would help compete with the Big12's Texas domination.

ACC should act now; before FSU gets their way -- or a PAC12 situation make blow up.

Trust me, I have been thinking about it. I am a USF fan and this is conference realignment. The past 15 years have been one, non-stop nightmare.

Got to think positive. I don’t see Tulane leaving the AAC for the PAC unless they can guarantee them more money. Those schools that jumped to the PAC already know that was their best option. Memphis, USF, and Tulane will probably have better options

USF needs to win the conference this year.

Straight up.

Everything is working exactly as it should (with investments, and basketball winning the regular season championship).

We can get a better deal than SMU in the PAC-x, Big12, B1G, and ACC. We just need to win out and justify top G5 (psuedo-P4) status.

So are we Big Ten or bust hoping the FL expansion times up with our clear TV value demonstration and AAU status?

Tulane stays because no one in the Conference wants to give up a trip to New Orleans.

What happened to the ACC and B12 in your scenarios?

But can we handle 5 P4 teams?

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
