To Bull Matrix's point, it's a media term. Not NCAA official and now it's not even CFP official. But the media will continue to use it because they want to prop up their more valuable properties. The sports media would have to be the ones to retire the terminology but they benefit from continuing to use it.

The committee has control of the scam now so P anything else doesn't matter.

About as far as I would go.   (Maybe) Join the PAC-? but be able to get out immediately at no cost.

I said earlier, its ok, as long as we can get out easily when something better comes along. I don't want to lock in with this group.

I would be on board with something like this:

West: Boise, Fresno, WSU, OSU, CSU, SDSU, Air Force, UNLV

East: USF, Memphis, Tulane, ECU, UTSA, Army, Navy, (One from Tulsa, UNT, UAB)

This would get rid of the dregs of our conference and the MWC and would essentially guarantee a playoff berth each year.

It will be weird for Olympic sports, almost need to call Army or Navy west, and balance out so East and West each have 7 full members. If they get that balance, then I am good.

Like it for the most part except instead of Tulsa or North Texas I would go Marshall, Liberty or Appalachian State.

The last team is irrelevant. They are an also-ran to get to 16 teams with two, 8 team divisions. You could leave off UNLV and the also-ran from the East and just go to 14 teams.

UNLV is a must. Appalachian State has great fan support and is good most years for a bowl game. At the same time it would weaken other group of five conferences. Also I wouldn't mind adding Ohio from the Mac. Coastal Carolina and  Liberty would also be better adds than Tulsa and North Texas. There is no doubt in the world that whatever team would come out of this conference would make it to the playoffs and possibly even provide at larges

And also provide 3 to 4 NCAAT births
