We don't know what will happen. 

If the Pac-2 forms an Eastern half of the conference, who knows what is possible. They could turn around and invite non-football powerhouses like Gonzaga, St. Mary's and UConn....suddenly the idea wouldn't be so ridiculous. 

I believe that those "insiders" mentioned a long time ago that Oregon State and Washington State could look to add MWC schools if they didn't land anywhere themselves and after they settled on the money from the other programs leaving. Certainly a little surprise at how well this flew under the radar.

Imagine a scenario where the MWC, say two years ago, called and said, “Hey, we’re going to invite USF and the two worst teams from the Pac12 to join us. How about it?”

The travel cost for USF being in a western conference would basically kill our other athletic programs. No thanks to that. ACC is going to be fine despite what you all keep hearing from the crazy rumors.

Exactly! What ever happened to the down & depressed USF fan in Texas that kept telling us that USF is never going to get called up again? That peep seemed too suicidal so I hope  they are ok.

It is frustrating watching all these schools with less to offer than USF get invited into major conferences. Obviously, "major" is a debatable term to describe the PAC-12 in its current configuration, but it still has lots of history, branding, and money. I suspect this may relegate the MWC to a reduced likelihood of getting a champion into the playoff each year, though it may elevate the PAC-12 as its replacement for competing with the AAC every year for the "outside P4" champion slot. The most recent Big 12 expansion appeared to value recent football success over all else. Geography would certainly limit candidacy for a Florida school to the PAC-12, nor would we likely have interest to join it. ACC and reach B1G are our hopes for landing pads, but one has to wonder how much more room there can be among the top tier of conferences before the structure becomes unwieldy and a "watering down" effect is risked. Here's to hoping everything USF is doing positions us to get in before the door closes!

Any word yet on what the media deal might be for the "new pac12"? I can't see it getting anything close to what it was offered before its demise.

They won’t have much of a media deal since those schools are way out west. They kick off late while many people are already asleep.

In the end, this is a nothing burger. WSU and OSU don't have good football progrums.
