Glad to see the PAC resurrecting. However I think the interesting part is that Tulane, Memphis, and USF is not part of it. Probably because they know those schools will with end up in ACC or big 12 depending on how things play out.

With FSU being so loud about trying to get out of the ACC, it definitely makes no sense for any eastern team with P4 dreams to jump to this west coast best of the rest conference. Wait long enough and you have the chance for an actual P4. Same reason Boise and SDSU considered but didn't join the AAC after the Big 12 raided it. They had hoped for the joining the Big 12 or PAC so why pay extra fees in between to go to another G5?

AAC better bring in the Air Force Academy….

THIS^    The AAC should have been pursuing Air Force while they were dealing with Army over the past year.

I don't know that it's "delusional". Highly unlikely? Yes, but I still wouldn't want on the PAC-2 ride. I don't know that it positions USF athletics in any better of a position than the AAC. The four schools they're adding aren't going to transform that into a power conference. To me, being involved in some sort of PAC-2 expansion is just re-organizing the deck chairs. It would feel like a move, just to make a move.

Look at it this way. I remember when it was a delusional thought when I kept saying USF & UConn will eventually be invited to the ACC just a few years ago. Winning cure a lot of things. So if USF starts winning BIG then anything is possible. We must continue to BE BOLD!!

The only way I accept moving to the PAC if I am USF is with 2 conditions:

1. There is an easy out. When someone better comes calling I need to be able to move.

2. There is a full Eastern division, with at least 4 schools, but preferrably 6. (then you limit travel as you play you division more than the other in most sports).

If anyone is wondering, here is my Eastern 6: USF, Tulane, Memphis, ECU, North Texas, UTSA.

Good points Mike.

I am wondering if there is purposeful move to have 6 programs total at this time, when they need 8. Thinking an Eastern division is a potential option. Not so sure about the latter 2 you mentioned.

I agree that the last two programs are the ones I am not sure about. I don't think there are any great options after the first 4. Temple is a brand, but has geography problems. FAU has location but is behind almost everything else. UAB is a possible. Rice for academics?

UTSA is the hardest to figure out, I don't think they are ready for a move up, but they have potential.

Also, If I'm the PAC, I make a run at Cal and Stanford, then settle on UNLV and Air Force to get to 8.

This new PAC doesn't scream academics. Rice, UAB, Charlotte would be better options that UTSA and North Texas.

I agree more with your latest post that adding UNLV and waiting to see what happens with Cal and Stanford is more prudent.

AAC commissioner should be on the phone with the Air Force Academy right now to discuss becoming a member.

Most of you are delusional. Big 10 is never coming for us. We are not a brand. As much as you want to believe. We are not. No one cares about watching a usf game other than us. If the pac 2 comes calling,  we run. Anything to get away from playing Tulsa, rice, Charlotte. If the acc falls apart we just gonna be in the same boat with left overs. Take what is given to us now. But they pac still doesn’t even think of usf.

Good chance they're trying to negotiate with central time zone schools, people like UNT/UTSA and those talks haven't materialized. That conference will essentially be an AAC-West, there would be no reason for USF to banish our conference travel (for all sports!) to the west coast for >50% of the conference schedule. USF will stay. Good for the PAC12 to live. I agree they'll focus on two more western schools, UNLV/Air Force make a lot of sense.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
