USF football will travel to Southern Mississippi on Saturday, assuming Hattiesburg escapes the flood waters that are expected to engulf much of the state from H

Radio host Greg Swaim wrote that the Big 12 might expand to 24 teams (should the conference be the Big 12x2) by adding Washington State, Oregon State, and six ACC teams. Florida State and Clemson would be in that group, with four other schools from that conference.  He was a little fuzzy about who those schools might be.

Out of that came a rumor that USF could join Memphis, Tulane, Wazzu, Oregon State, and UConn in a revamped ACC, provided North Carolina and Louisville leave for, oh, wherever. This is all contingent on FSU and Clemson extracting themselves from the ACC, so we're all just guessing until their legal wranglings conclude.

So are OSU and Wazzu joining the B12 and the ACC? That’s a solid strategy to double their conference pay.

True.  We have only the backfill ACC rumor going for us lately.  We should employ this on our behalf.  Get those rumors going.

Fresno, gross. CSU? Which one? Davis is UC, though 🤣🤣

seems like a big downgrade, but it could hold them together for a few days in this brave new world

I think it gives us a little hint that attempts to find a life boat in either the ACC or Big 12 went nowhere for the PAC 2. They were doomed to choose from different versions of a G5/6 future. They'll try to prop up the rebuilt PAC as a power conference but it'll just be the West Coast version of Aresco's P6 campaign.

It's actually an eerily similar situation. Only 2 teams left so they'll invite the top MWC teams to rebuild. The football half of the Big East has just 3 members left who invited the top CUSA teams to rebuild what was eventually renamed the AAC.

If I were the Pac2, I would also invite Air Force, Utah State, UNLV and Nevada; that would make 10. Then they would be pretty even with the AAC while demoting the MWC. Realistically, there would be a big step down after the Pac10 and AAC, could we call it the G2? Haha.

I’m conflicted about this.

realise that the PAC could basically kill the ACC off by taking the top of the AAC and the best west coast options. If the ACC needs new membership because some teams depart, they’re cooked.

Part of me wants to hear USF in these rumors because we have missed out on so much. If Tulane and Memphis get sucked into this and USF is on the outside looking in, we are cooked. Completely cooked.

for now this seems to be exclusively a west coast affair which makes sense for a G5 conference. But if they start looking east, I’m sure a TV deal with the PAC would be greater than anything from the AAC. It might be all we ever get, especially with how quickly the ACC may unravel.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
