While it sucks that we are not included, the fact that their football has to wait till 2031, makes the deal not as attractive. In addition, this, everyone looked at UCONN as a great fit for the ACC, with them off the table, USF would be priority #1. Also, this seems like another “move too quickly” move by the B12, this takes away a little bit from their “grabbing” ACC schools in the future. I think this actually helps us with the ACC.

I'm definitely against this move. We JUST got to 16. Let's breathe for a minute and see how this setup feels for a few years. Yormark is the one pushing hard for this. Hoping the presidents shut it down again. I get his plan to try to separate and maximize basketball TV money but he'd be saddling us with a bad football program.

If comparing UConn and USF, right now UConn basketball is obviously far and away the best sport. But football is king. USF still has much work to get a consistent on field football product and fan support but the program has a higher ceiling and floor than UConn football does. Their best Big East season was due to a bunch of teams being mid and tied for first together.

Well, which would you rather ...

a) quick admission to the Big XII

b) later admission to the ACC

I'm relatively certain that the UCONN shine is nothing but basketball. UCONN will be UCONN regardless of conference.  One attractive attribute is, however, that there is no binding conference litigation to contend with.

The Big 12 and UConn are in discussions for the Huskies...

This feels a little like when SMU and Calford joined the ACC.  And when CUSA call ups joined the AAC.  I thought it would be shot down but insanity won out and those additions happened.  I'm still wondering how the B12 would pay for that.  Fox and ESPN going to agree?  Also, does this help travel woes?  Don't think so.  However, it does weaken the Big East.  Whom does that benefit?

UConn being off the table should help us. Really didn’t want us playing with the leftovers from the fly-over states anyway. As long as we get into the ACC, which would be great all around for our stature I’m good with it.

ACC commissioner Jim Phillips wants to be able to lay claim to the excitement the ACC is providing in Week 0 in Ireland with Georgia Tech battling FSU, the latt

Unfortunately, it's too late for Phillips to regain control of this narrative. His conference has counter-sued their way out of a partnership with FSU and Clemson, and the two recent national champions are wanted by every other Power Conference.

I think the idea of the B12 separating football and basketball contracts is super interesting. I do see a road where that provides much better overall value for a conference, especially as basketball rights are skyrocketing now. Why should a school like UConn be held to the same "football" standard as, say, Oklahoma St? UConn is essentially the Florida St., Clemson, or Georgia of basketball, not considered a "blue blood" but has the championship pedigree to compete with any team in the nation in any given year - essentially a "new age blue blood". If basketball contracts continue to skyrocket - it only makes sense to seek them on the market separate from football. I can only see that as a positive for the B12, a conference with "ok" football relative to the market, but above average basketball.  Would not surprise me if the ACC looked at something similar. Yormack looking at TNT being shut out by Amazon and licking his chops knowing there's a few hundred million dollars per year allocated to basketball that just became available...

Can't believe any of you have any hope for us. We are completely dead and every move that doesn't include us furthers that.

We should shut the football program down effective immediately.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
