We got two showdowns for top25 preseason teams  this year. If USF and the Bulls want to make a statement; now is the time.

In July, football scholarships for FBS schools increased to 105 as per team the House vs. NCAA settlement. What will that do for Group of Five teams.

What a great business model. Pay 55 kids to sit on the bench and be pariahs for the team.

College Football needs a relegation model!

Some teams would need to change conferences. to make it work but this could be set up regionally. Each "Power Conference" gets 12 teams. The top 2 from the lower league gets promoted every year. Bottom 2 from the Power Conference gets relegated ever year. This is what I do in the CFB 25 video game. Quite fun.

Big 10 <—> Mid-American (All the Mid-West teams)
Big 12 <—> Conference USA (Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas teams)
ACC <—> American (Teams along the Atlantic coast from BC to Miami, no further west than Pitt, including the South and North Carolina teams)
PAC-12 <—> MWC (All the teams west of Boulder)
SEC <—> Sun Belt (The rest of the Southeastern teams that aren't from the traditional ACC/Big East)

This is pretty similar to my thoughts and regulation is needed. Just switch the Sunbelt  with ACC and AAC with SEC. Sunbelt have more overlap in  ACC country especially in Appalachia.

I think every sport should have promotion and relegation.  Imagine how much more interesting October would be for MLB if teams were having to play to save themselves from relegation.  No more mailing it in.  Of course it would never happen because of....money

That actually would be cool. Would definitely keep college football fresh. Schools like Ap St & Liberty would have a better chance. Maybe have more flexibility but still keep it regional so rivalries don’t get killed off and more can develop.

The Showdown is not with Bama or Miami.  That is the wrong mindset.  Yes winning them would be nice, but winning the AAC is more important. We could beat Bama and UM while not winning the AAC championship and the wins would be forgotten.  I have to believe that the AAC champ will be the #5 conference champ in the playoffs.  Bring an AAC championship game to Tampa.

Liberty is potentially going to be a fly in that ointment. I hope they don't get rewarded for having the easiest schedule in the country. We really need the G5 representative to perform well this year to make an argument for future inclusion.

Unfortunately they only care about brand names and not freshness, competitiveness, or customers.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
