Cat, thanks for wading into twitter/x for us.  You and Matrix are the MVP's of this thread.

I would not be surprise if the B10 was going after UF.  It would be a huge win for them and I think UF would really align with their research sharing etc.

Here is a wild prediction:

UF to the B10

FSU backfills to the SEC

USF backfills to the ACC

Everyone is happy they are not in a league with the tinmen.

If it is a fun atmosphere (and we are winning) it would be great to go to games on our own campus.  I am really excited about that more than who we are playing.  I think it will be a game changer.

It will be like nothing our fanbase as ever experienced unless they go to away games and get jealous already.

I love this.  It would be so weird.

Shows the people manipulating this behind the scenes do not care about the fans.  So, UF not playing Georgia every year would be sad.

We've seen rumors that B10 wants Nebraska out due to AAU status.

They also have been terrible, which helps that argument

True but what else is new?  They keep destroying all of what makes CFB good.  It's reached the level of corporate paste or widget that must be optimized to the point where everyone just tolerates it and quality goes down.

That was my speculation too.  Rejoining Mizz/OUT is another factor.

Exactly.

Or they should just take us.  If you look at the AAU site and cross reference against schools with large student bodies the list is quite small.  Again, not saying we would get the call but we are on that small list.

Tampa is better (hint hint B1G)

Also not sure if this was posted here but SI has the FSU independence take:

Too big for the ACC but not wanted by the Big Ten or SEC...

Makes me wonder...

FSU has a big enough of a following that fans are going to want to watch their games no matter what, especially if they're good again.

Why not go independent and stream all your games online, on your own website/service, with your own broadcast, and keep ALL the ad revenue for yourself? It is really necessary to depend on ESPN for anything in this day and age?

Internet killed the TV star.

The more I see these crazy rumors the more I’m focused on following USF and watching them win wherever level or conference they are in. That is the bottom line anyway. Last season was one of my most enjoyable USF seasons in a long time & that was USF winning their bowl game going 7-6 while a member of the AAC. So I guess what I am getting at is that USF is going to be fine in the long run.  Sure, the college football landscape will be crazier but at least we have our USF program to follow. Go Bulls!!

I don't think our recruiting has been affected too badly, because there is a perception that we won't be stuck in the AAC forever. If that changes, recruiting will become immensely more difficult, and then our coaches will definitely leave. We MUST get into a better conference. Other than that, I agree, gameday on campus is going to be really special.

Yeah, but then we'd get to see UF play Ohio State and Michigan ~every year. Florida State vs Georgia would be just as compelling of a match up. Also, what if the B1G steals both FL and GA?

I could see Florida going to the B1G, because it's probably more money and an arguably easier path to the national championship. It also fits in with UF's image of being a prestigious academic institution, instead of slumming around with the likes of Alabama, Mississippi State, LSU, etc. UF would get to be in a conference that is prestigious in both sports AND academics (isn't the latter the reason for unis in the first place?)

Florida State will finally have their dreams come true joining the football-first SEC, which couldn't give a crap about academics.
