Bear in mind that there is something to be said for schedule utility. Think about it now that we have a 12 (soon to be sixteen, mark my words) team playoff. You could have a scenario where - in the absence of divisions - you wind up with an 'easier' schedule that gets you to your conference championship and occupy a playoff spot (assuming an upset win or ranking, etc.). Take our good friends at Liberty for example. Do they not reap a G5 reward by virtue of who they play? Not saying it's a cakewalk to go undefeated in a season, but generally speaking, weakness comes out in the post-season wash.  Bowden was telling the absolute truth about the ease of access by playing in the ACC compared to the SEC. Now, should FSU wind up in the SEC, how does that pan out going forward? It's gonna be more uphill than they've played in the past few decades.

I retract all former statements I have made about Swaim. Now that I like the words he is saying I believe his “sources.” The man is a visionary who always gets it right. Booking my 2027 flight to Ann Arbor as I type this.

Long Live the Swaim!

Pretty sure Texas is going to regret going to the SEC. They're going to have a real rough time running the table in that league and they're giving up the Longhorn Network too (becoming a streaming platform — not sure the full implications).

I have no idea what they are thinking, although I'm personally excited for the playoff caliber weekly matchups.

I think that Bowden was one of very few great college coaches. Any argument that the university of whoever didn’t play a hard enough schedule to get into the CFP, they still had to beat whatever team they played for said championship. Don’t need excuses, if they win it, they win it.

That is the thing. ACC won’t settle for cheap. FSU is going to pretty much pay tons imo. The only schools will just take the settlement money and invite USF which will be fine

My plausible conference wishlist for USF:

  1. B1G (longshot, but the factors are there)
  2. ACC (most likely)
  3. Big 12 (eat your peas)
  4. Independent (glad I don't have to make the schedule)
  5. AAC (hey, at least it's fun to win)

ACC can’t settle for cheap. They’ll lose the conference.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
