Imagine if you are FSU.

The Big 12 calls and says, hey look, what if we match the distribution for you that the Big 10 or SEC pays, can we talk about joining.

Big 12 can say that, because it is willing to take venture capital money to make it happen, looking for the big splash.

FSU mindset, we want to Big 10 or SEC, but if all else fails, we have a back up plan, since we burned the bridges with the ACC

That is where we are right now. Big 12 has moved up from "no chance in hell" to, if all else fails, you are the last resort.

I still don't quite understand what the lawsuit is stating.

I know the ACC is supremely annoyed with FSU/Clem, but is that bridge actually completely burned down?

Isn't it still equally plausible that FSU and/or Clemson stay in the ACC for the foreseeable future, if they don't have a better option? They both might finally realize how much they need each other (for now).

I thought this was a pretty good recap and summary.

FSU and Clemson are suing to exit the ACC, and Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark seems to want to expand more. Could Mike Norvell face Deion Sanders?

It makes me think of the transfer portal...fsu and c have entered the transfer portal...if the conferences they want to join don't invite them, I don't think there is anything stopping them from staying in the acc.

Yeah this theoretical B12 would be a temporary move, but a panic move in my opinion.

With the transfer portal, your old team is not obligated to take you back ....... not sure how that corresponds to this, though.

I don't know if the bridge is burned, I was just guessing it was.

Perhaps, but still the ACC should make moves against FSU and Clem at this point.  If they end up being stuck there (which would be funny) still get their future replacements in.  Also you don't want a pissy member having an outsized vote influence going forward.  You want to bury them and milk the LOLCOW until they are able to finally leave.

If I were them, yes it would definitely be burned.

I would think that in this moment the ACC desperately wants to keep FSU/Clemson — if you remove all emotional opinions and reactions about the situation.

The ACC needs to stop the bleeding and add more teams. If you keep FSU (and Miami) and add USF, the ACC basically dominates Florida markets, compared to the Big 12 or the SEC. Add UCONN and you have a clear #1 basketball conference.

Going back a few weeks, IIRC, the ACC was discussing a change in the payouts trying to appease FSU and Clemson. Any word on what happened with that?

This was proven to be just a stall tactic to stall your own demise in past similar events.  Just saying.  They shouldn't be placating these guys since they threaten the existence of the org.  Unless they are placating them temporarily to get the upper hand.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
