That's a second key takeaway. 

First is like the others said, Dellinger and Scheer are not Swaim and random WVU dudes. 

But since they're more credible, their wording is important. Dellinger mentions very preliminary talks, the kind they likely have engaged in with all the non ACC P4s. Scheer doesn't promise something juicy and grandiose like the WVU guys with secret meetings and done deals. Just that internally within the Big 12, there's a feeling that they can get it done. Which, don't we all feel like we have assembled the greatest fantasy football team ever immediately after drafting but before having to actually play lol I think there's credible information there but it's not as sexy or certain as the fake stuff Swaim and friends post.

The Big 12 is definitely positioning itself to be the #3 conference. Say what you will, but I like Yormark.

I'm still thinking this is a negotiating tactic.  FSU/C want this leaked.  Maybe the B10 or SEC is jerking them around it something.

That could be likely and having talks is only in their best interest.  You would want to play everyone off of each other to get the best deal.

Imagine if you are FSU. 

The Big 12 calls and says, hey look, what if we match the distribution for you that the Big 10 or SEC pays, can we talk about joining. 

Big 12 can say that, because it is willing to take venture capital money to make it happen, looking for the big splash. 

FSU mindset, we want to Big 10 or SEC, but if all else fails, we have a back up plan, since we burned the bridges with the ACC. 

 

That is where we are right now. Big 12 has moved up from "no chance in hell" to, if all else fails, you are the last resort.

They can spring from whomever they want.

FSU and Clemson want the annual revenue UF and the University of South Carolina are bringing in. They won't get that from the Big 12.
