I just don’t see how people believe 6 teams will leave. 4 yes, but ESPN won’t allow 2 others leaving to destroy the profitable ACCN, just have them move to the B12; it would mean a massive loss and ESPN has already had enough financial issues. ESPN owns the SEC, ACC and B12, and letting 2 schools move from the ACC to the B12 would destroy 1/3 of their media revenue. These national people have got to stop with this narrative, not gonna happen unless the SEC wants 4, which they don’t.

Do new recruits know something that we don't?

“I also love the direction the program is going in with them building all brand new facilities, new stadium and going into a new power conference, I feel like it’s a great set up for me to be successful.”

Alex Golesh and the USF Bulls have accomplished a big recruiting feat, landing Argyle (Texas) Liberty Christian running back Chase Garnett.

Interesting. Maybe he misspoke, but seems like recruits are usually very aware of the power/G5 distinction. Hard to imagine he’d make the mistake of committing to a G5 when he wanted to commit to a power conference team.

We're slightly biased here at TBP but I would have to agree, although for different reasons.

Let's say that FSU and Clemson leave the ACC for $400M total. That leaves 15 schools that'll split that pay of $400M or $26.67M per year, or if you exclude the newest three, $33.33M per school. You forfeit that if you choose to leave, and even if the ACC lets you leave, you're switching over to the Big 12 with effectively the same payout. Not only that, you still have to pay the ACC a departure fee. the fee back in December of last year was $130 million per a SI report. (source: https://www.si.com/college/2023/12/22/florida-state-lawsuit-acc-departure-penalty-grant-of-rights)

Even if the fee drops to $100M, you're still talking about forfeiting over $125 million for a deal that expires in 2031. At a minimum, you'd need to make $18M MORE per year in order for it to make sense from a cash flow perspective and the  Big 12 only makes $1.7M more per year.

Do any of these "ACC is going to collapse types" factor that in? ESPN currently values these schools at $30 million per year. Do they seriously believe they're worth $48 million a year in the Big 12? I doubt ESPN or Fox would be ready to pay that much. Miami, Vt, and Lousville are not going to the Big 12 to lose $16 million per year in average annual exit fees.

Coincidence? He doesn’t post like this every time a recruit commits, does he?

the post-truth viral era sucks. i wish people would stop trying to speculate their own desires into existence.

it's not boring, just super annoying.
