We did come close 1 time. 2005.

Had we won at UConn we would have been playing WVU for the Championship.

Unfortunately, we still ended the season 4th (4-3) in conference play.

Well it seems to me that discussions with every conference and every option is being discussed.  That does not mean anything is happening.  I find it hard to believe that FSU would have pulled the trigger on the lawsuit unless they had a real gentleman's agreement with either the SEC or the B10.  To do otherwise is just stupid.  Maybe as things progress that agreement soured?  Just does not make sense.  FSU and Clemson to B12 seems like clickbait, and the idea of the B10 not taking those programs and taking a GT or USF instead because of AAU seems equally unlikely. The B10 does not need to expand at all.  Really neither does the SEC.  Those conferences have indicated in some way or another that they would take FSU and/or Clemson and that they would be worth the expansion.

So let's play this out. Say FSU and Clemson do move to the Big 12 (I still think it's highly unlikely).

I guess that means the ACC is toast? How many teams can the Big 12 take? Do other teams (e.g. Miami and GT) move to the B1G instead of FSU and Clemson, or stay put in the ACC?

I'd still be pretty happy joining the ACC, although it would be annoying to see FSU playing C. Florida on the regular instead of us. Thoughts?

I think this B12 talk might be a negotiating tacking with the B10/SEC.  If there is any negotiating that is part of joining a league, FSU is pretty exposed and does not have a lot of options.  Those leagues can say "we will give you half of what we give everyone else" and what is FSU going to say to that?  These articles seem like they are trying to create an impression that they do have options.  Just my feelings.

It would be genius if it were the B10 floating the USF rumors.  Hey FSU, if you are playing hardball, we might take USF. It is complete bull sh1t but it would shake them up.

I'm resigned to joining a conference (ACC) that is backfilling.  It might be significant losses they've sustained and have quite a different composition to it.  I just see it positively though.  We can grow and be competitive, maybe right from the get-go.

Voodoo 5 is not what lost us that game. The play before that did.

I say a similar thing about the famous 4th and 24 play at home vs. Houston way back when.  If we hadn't given up half the field on the kick return (we had a bad habit of that), it may have been a non-issue.

Same. Our lot in life, it seems.

If FSU is in the B12 and USF is in the ACC then I wouldn't even pay attention to who FSU is playing.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.

We've talked about getting back to being the toughest, most violent people out there. Let's be the best version of ourselves and really get back to the culture of how we (USF) used to step across the line and play anybody. Let's hold on to the culture of when they were tough … and they (opponents) knew it was going to be long damn day for themselves.
