Yahoo is terrible lol. Common sense tells us all that FSU won’t be paying a hefty penny to exit the ACC just to join a western conference. And I thought my predictions were wild lol

Of course not.  Some discussion of the idea that the B12 would help FSU and Clemson cover the cost to leave the ACC via PE funds.  B12 would offer to pay the fees for breaking GOR.  The B12 might offer additional money (in excess of ACC) to entice them and a few others out of the ACC.  This is only if they can't get into the P2.

It's definitely a backup plan to the P2. Not the likeliest outcome but Big 12 has to shoot their shot since after this legal fight, it seems unlikely that staying in the ACC is possible.

It is a pipe dream for the big 12. But it is very funny to see as they still have to agree to a settlement and no way FSU settles for big 12 when SEC is going to bring them in

Yes.  And it is a way to put pressure on the ACC to possibly secure a counter offer.  It's a win for the B12 in the court of public opinion as it keeps them in the news.  BY comes off as a real mover and shaker.

Big 12 commissioner asked why Colorado got a $2.5 million signing bonus last year to switch leagues but others did not. "One got us four," he said.

But documents obtained from the schools by USA TODAY Sports – and brief remarks by Yormark here Tuesday – paint a picture of a cutthroat strategy to destabilize the Pac-12 last year to the point that it fell apart to the Big 12’s benefit.

According to the documents, the University of Colorado was offered a $2.5 million signing bonus from the Big 12 Conference last year as an added enticement to get the Buffaloes to leave the Pac-12 and join the Big 12 instead, starting on Aug. 2, 2024.

But like a game of musical chairs, college football realignment is stoked by fear of being left behind without a seat at the table of a stable and viable league. After Colorado said it was leaving, that left the Pac-12 with nine members, adding to the sense of uncertainty. Then the Big Ten pounced on Washington and Oregon, triggering a last rush for the exits. At that point, the Big 12 likely didn't need to offer bonus money to land Utah, Arizona and Arizona State. There was no attractive alternative.

And now the Pac-12 is down to two schools who weren’t invited elsewhere – Oregon State and Washington State. By contrast, the Big 12 is up to 16 members after having only 10 teams two years ago.

Basically you nailed it lol. This is another reason that I do believe that USF is going to be fine in the long run. The college football landscape is forever changing & USF is now making moves that they can control to ensure they are included moving forward
