Out of curiousity, what makes you say that?

So, I think the argument for Cincinnati back when the decision was made is "they are good on day 1, and will fit right in"

I think back then, the argument about USF was, "they are really bad, but have a lot of potential."

Cincinnati won that battle.

Last year, in Director's cup points, every power 5 was in the top 100, except Cincinnati was a dismal 259 (USF was 113 as a G5, you can assume we would have been higher with P5 resources).

So, USF got good ahead of schedule, and Cincinnati struggled.

Tampa is a better market.

I know Cincinnati gave WVU a travel partner, but then the league left UCF on an island. So, the swap would still leave one school on an island.

(I also think they will regret taking Houson when Sampson retires if their basketball doesn't stay at the level it is now).

I think UCF and BYU were good additions for the Big 12.

when the phone rings to lobby for your school, do they answer it? When the promo piece comes in the mail, "Let's see what Michael Kelly's school is up to?"

Rolodex, mail, phones?  Come on guys, get with the times.  This is all handled through snapchat and tiktok these days.

Seriously though, if I mention to my kids that I read online forums they look at me like I am crazy.

I see UCF as 82nd. https://nacda.com/documents/2024/6/26/23.24FinalDI.pdf

Also worth noting, SMU was very good last year. 54th if I remember correctly.

The Big12 took on Arizona AND Arizona State...

They have both Kentuckys... And just lost OU to abandon OSU.

They should have grabbed USF; and they would have the potential to dominate the Florida market.

Even now, with USF & UCF recruiting... I am watching UF and Miami struggle (even when they have a great class coming in).

An often-overlooked field of endeavor.  Our close friends at NCSU have racked up a string of conference championships and have done well at the NCAA tournament. As of now, only UNC, NCSU, DUKE, Virginia, Virginia Tech, Pitt & Stanford field D1 teams (excludes teams at the club level).  It'd be nice if U of SF was participatory, but I don't think that'll happen. Wrestling, cornfields aside, is not a money generating, audience driven sport and is often one of the ones to be cut when the whip comes down.

What do you mean wrestling doesn't generate money?

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
