The BigTen has an academic component that works among its schools to share grants, professors etc that brings them more money than a tv contract. Check out Big Ten Academic Alliance.

The big problem is that many of us fans, think of these conferences as just football or sports alliances. The BigTen has always been different.

They are also the top dog in all of this (or co-top dog).  

If this were a chess game it would be over, the B10/SEC have already won.

For reasons you stated AAU status to them goes much deeper than a snobby preference.  They are an academic alliance first and foremost that is foundational.  They don't have to reach for programs that don't fit their profile.

I've said this before, but now is crunch time. 

USF needs to position itself as the top expansion candidate not currently in a Power 4 conference. 

Our potential competition:

WSU

OSU

SDSU

Memphis

Tulane

UConn

 

I believe today we are the top choice of that list. It is imperative that we keep getting our story out.

And make others want to be a part of it. A conference championship and playoff birth is exactly what we need right now. Or, at the very least, a NY6 bowl in which we win (see: Houston, c). We need a couple games this year to draw 3MM+ eyeballs. Alabama will, Miami might if it makes OTA channel, then we'll have real shots with Tulane and Memphis, plus the conference championship if we make it.

I personally think this will be all over by Thanksgiving for us. (meaning we are invited to a new home)

Absolutely! Also, we need heavy fan support for everything USF. 

Our presence in media is VERY WEAK! 

I know this, because I remember back in 2013 when ucf joined the Big East (AAC); that their Wikipedia page, their social media presence (Reddit, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, etc...) was huge, and they ended up in every conversation.

However, there are some great videos talking about USF and our facilities... and the viewcount is embarrasingly low!! How!? We have 400,000 alumni! 

Look up USF anything... and compare the number of views (or comments, like, shares) to videos on Cincy, ucf, Memphis, Tulane, etc...

Winning cures all.   The coaching staff needs to focus on winning an AAC championship.  Its great to have Miami/Alabama on the schedule but winning the conference and set the program ahead of Tulane and Memphis is more important than beating a P4 IMHO.  Those are the competition for a place in a better conference.  I know it is hard, but the fans need to get up for UAB, Tulsa and Navy at home.  Show up or shut up.

NY6 bowls do not exist anymore as they are now part of the CFP so you can only get a playoff berth at that level.  That's exactly what we need!
