If you're school is not yet AAU accredited you won't be getting a B1G offer, regardless of what you've been told about your schools R1 research or academic ranking. With well over half of the current vetted Big Ten schools adamantly against non AAU accredited schools (they're still very mad at the #Huskers for losing their accreditation after joining). #FSU and #Clemson will announce they are leaving the #ACC (we're hearing July 12th, give or take a few days), and will both take an #SEC invite. However, this will open up the entire ACC, as they'll all be scrambling for a lifeboat in the #SEC or #Big12, with some current ACC schools who are already AAU accredited possibly getting a #B1G invite. Buckle up, folks...next week could get REALLY CRAZY!!

The folks at FSU know how difficult it is for a geographic outlier to remain relevant.

So, if one were to really believe that AAU accreditation is mandatory for B1G, here's you ACC options:

University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
University of Virginia
Duke University
Georgia Institute of Technology
University of Miami
...so, no Clemson, no FSU.

I really think (entirely subjective on my part) both Clemson & FSU would be better (entertainment weight) fits in the SEC, which secures their places in the P2 environment. On the other hand, as pointed out above, perhaps the AAU membership carried a tad more weight in the pre-PAY-TO-PLAY environment. Maybe the B1G can spin the importance of flexibility, inclusivity, and for-the-good-of-the-corporation in the 'modern era' of college football to be less rigid when the office opens up for business.

College football used to be for students, alumni, and working-class fans, while the NFL was for people who wanted to spend big money to watch football and have a good time. Now greed and money are tearing down what made college football so great.

Thus my handle....

If you not only are involved in fbs football in 2024 but also are involved in an arms race with the sec to Highlander the **** out college football, deciding aau status is the one place you can’t compromise is a fairly odd line in the sand. There aren’t many valuable pieces left in play and you can’t just give some of them up to your only competition this late in the game. If you want to have scruples that’s great don’t play the game but if you decide to play the game then you need to play to win, this type of decision would be the kind of **** that gets you shot in Squid Game. It’s amoral to the game.

This may be temporary.  Money is now driving the bus.  When TV renegotiation comes up in 2030s and there is a possible further realignment into power conferences, is the B10 going to pick Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Rutgers, Purdue etc over Clemson and FSU?  The SEC, who will be their main competitor and has their own dead weight to jettison,  does not care about AAU. The PAC12 died in part because of their snobbery and failure to add some B12 teams when they had the opportunity.
