My bold prediction, this thread will die before 5000 pages.

The good news is coming before too long.

I wanted to go back to this concept. The thread will not die and here's why:

Even if we upgrade from the AAC, which we should do if cooler heads prevail, there is still the issue of that new platform imploding.  Therefore there will always be rumors of realignments.  What if we need to keep pushing for the next life raft?

Let's say we made it all the way to the B1G, then there will still be rumors of a new division splitting off, or the slow pruning of dead weight off of the remaining conferences.

This is the infinite thread.

I sort of agree - but I am still predicting a new home announced for us before Thanksgiving.

But end of the day, it's out of our hands either way.  When it happens, we'll all will know from credible sources.  No need to check this thread every day hoping there is an update.

CFP says so.

Under the 12-team playoff format that begins this fall, the four highest-ranked conference champions will be seeded one through four and each will receive a first-round bye, while teams seeded five through 12 will play each other in the first round on the home field of the higher-ranked team. (The team ranked #5 will host #12; team #6 will meet team #11; team #7 will play team #10; and team #8 will meet #9.) The quarterfinals and semifinals will be played in the New Year's Six bowl games, the national championship game will continue to be at a neutral site. No conference will qualify automatically and there will be no limit on the number of participants from a conference.

At some point the B1G and SEC are going to break apart from the rest of FBS football. The only thing  that could stop them is the worthless NCAA leadership which isn't happening.
