There is no Px/G5 for CFP purposes, just FBS. The top 5 ranked conference champions get a spot, with the next 7 highest ranked teams getting the remaining ones.

I did not know they did away with the G5 spot.   The NCAA site says top 4 ranked conference champs.   So I guess there is a chance if the AAC champ is ranked higher than say the B12 or ACC champ

There was never a "G5" spot, just the 4 highest ranked teams by the Committee up until this year. Here's the new format ....

 

The College Football Playoff will introduce a 12-team playoff bracket for the 2024-25 season, expanding from the current four-team format.

How CFP teams are selected under new format

The new 12-team College Football Playoff field will include the five highest-ranked conference champions, which will receive automatic bids. The seven highest-ranked teams remaining will round out the 12-team format. 

The top four teams will receive a first-round bye to the quarterfinals.

And thanks to the fine print in the new format agreement, our very good friend from South Bend can never get a playoff bye, nor be a top four seed. Oh, they can be in the playoff, no doubt. But until that "conference" thing is cleaned up, you have to play. At the same time, however, while everyone else is playing for-revenue-purposes-only conference championship games, ND is just lounging in the athletic center getting a bye week BEFORE everyone else's bye week! You can't earn a conference champion bye week if you don't have a conference!

Let’s say the Irish really do go 12-0. They would likely be the 5 seed and play the 12 seed in the first round, which would almost certainly be a champion from a Group of Five conference - the Gof5s are far weaker now after expansion - or a mediocre Power 4 conference team that would probably be 9-3.

Also... to be considered a conference there has to be 8 teams.

So if Wazzu goes undefeated this year, they will not be in the CFP "automatically" ... but they are probably getting an at large bid.
