If the best leave it would make sense there would be a difference in valuation.

Depends. The Big12 lost OU and UT and their deal didn’t drop. If you look at the link I posted earlier on how the ACC deal differs from B12. Losing FSU/ Clemson doesn’t hurt the ACC as much as OU/UT hurt the B12.

We will have to see what happens, but I will say if the ACC can limit those that exit to 2-4 and only to P2 with a good exit fee. They should be able to provide payouts for length of contract 2036 that could match and even beat what an ACC team would get from going to Big12

ACC likely to elevate programs from AAC and Pac-12

The ACC would have to replace schools like FSU, Clemson, UNC, UVA, VA Tech, Louisville, Miami, and the like by elevating programs from the AAC and absorbing the Pac-12's two remaining programs, Oregon State and Wazzu, into the fold.

I was referring to this.  If that happens, bye bye ACC.

Understand and my reply to that was that if the ACC Commissioner keeps the loses to 2-4 with enough exit fees, he can make it financially a bad move for any more schools to leave.

FSU and Clemson are gone.

UNC, UVA and maybe Miami are really the only others that might be able to get a P2 invite.

The ACC’s job now is not to lose anyone to B12

What ACC and Big 12 teams are heading to the Big Ten next?

Now, what is the Big Ten looking for in all of this?

  • Notre Dame…but let’s assume for a minute that Notre Dame truly isn’t interested in joining the Big Ten or any conference and wants to remain independent. There has been little indication that Notre Dame (or their alumni) are eager to find a dance partner in all this madness.
  • Media markets to enhance the value of the league. Market size matters. The more home that the Big Ten Network gets in, the more revenue for all members.
  • AAU membership, which has been a prerequisite for all expansion candidates.
  • Expanding the Big Ten map (which most recently happened on the West Coast with four new additions), is key for their television partners.

Article says GT, Miami and NC are the top 3.

Doubt that many leave. Reality no one is paying a hefty exit fee to go from ACC to Big12 or the other way around. Unless you have a P2 invite it’s better to stay put and collect those exit fees.

Basically the ACC will probably only lose two ( FSU & Clemson). USF & UConn and possibly others get an invite imo

Hopefully that's the outcome.  It could go that way.  Would be better odds if they hadn't added SMU and the CA schools.

You don't think they would boost the west coast presence by getting the last 2 PAC?

Hmm then I could see USF going with Miami if they do that.

My opinion if they lose just those two is:

1. If they kept everyone else, it means that they got, ESPN to extend deal without lowering payments for current members and that those two leaving are paying considerable exit fees that keeps everyone else on board for now.

2. They add 4 at a lower rate from ESPN, so basically ESPN gets 4 extra schools for the price of 2, similar to what AAC did with new members getting half pay and 6 making up for 3.

3. Add Oregon State, Washington State both still have the image of being empower schools and they can use their PAC2 money to add to their lower ESPN pay. The other 2 would be more likely USF and Tulane. I could see SDSU to add more of a Western division and larger market, don’t think UConn leaves BigEast.

But as I have said before, UNC is the key, can the ACC convince them to stay, they might be able to for reasons I said earlier and the reality is that if UNC decides they want to move later, they are the only other ACC school other than Notre Dame that both SEC and BigTen would make room for.

With the climate going on in NCAA athletics, you’re either moving forward at a hard pace or you’re not. I think what intrigued me the most is they’re very determined to become a big player nationally.
