It will be interesting to see what happens.

FSU/ Clemson will be gone.

The SEC probably prefers UNC/UVA that fits their expansion target history. Does ESPN let FSU/ Clemson go to BigTen and FOX or do they push SEC to take all four and thus keep them all under ESPN 

If that happens what does the BigTen do. Do they try to go after Miami?

Big10 takes USF, obviously. A Big public state school that’s an AAU member, that’s the Big10.

Condensed your reply to these points but that's exactly what happened. At some point after the Big 12 took the $30M ESPN deal that the PAC foolishly thought was beneath them (somehow demanding $50M without USC) the landscape changed. All the sports media companies began to make staffing cuts and became selective with their deals. 

Ties into the second part of your post. When the Big 12 agreed, no one knew the market would eventually go south. But even once it did, the PAC propaganda machine (Wilner, Canzano, Mandel, Altimore) kept repeating the company talking points in how it's actually better to go after the big 12. This despite their commissioner initially hyping up the importance of getting to market first when they opened their contract negotiations early before the Big 12. It became obvious that the market was bad and there were even some articles and tweets about people in sports media trying to figure out where this supposed great offer would come from. 

Disinformation and wishful thinking. They rejected a $31M deal with a linear partner and once the market dipped their best offer was a $23M-$25M base deal with a streaming first partner.

It's what made this country great! If it works in other industries, no reason why it won't work when it comes to college (and I mean that in the most liberal application of the word) football.

Although I take all realignment rumors with a grain of salt (especially this guy), it's refreshing to see USF being mentioned as a "top target" for a better conference by a supposedly disinterested third party. Fingers crossed.

All they need to really do is form a scheduling alliance between the two, and not schedule any teams outside of those conferences. 

No one else will ever sniff the playoffs again.

My opinion, just go 16 teams. Non-P conferences get one rep each, best Indy team gets a rep, split the remaining 8 to top 4 of each P2 conference. Power teams get their larger cut, rest of CFB gets inclusion.
