The ACC’s motion to dismiss the Leon County case is being heard today. The case filed by the ACC in NC is still pending after FSU’s motion to dismiss was denied. Two lawsuits running simultaneously in different states seems like a nightmare.

In the article it references a $140-million buyout, is this accurate? It’s a lot of money, but that figure is much lower than what has previously been mentioned.

Not that AAU really has much to do with academics anyway, it’s a political club more than anything.

Most definitely, we will be discussing the Western Illinois vs. Eastern Illinois rivalry and the impact it will have on our realignment especially considering neither school is an Hispanic serving institution nor an AAU member.  Will also have a sidebar on if it truly is a rivalry or simply a cross state skirmish.  There are a lot of moving parts and each one of these issues effects us either directly or indirectly so it is important to view this thread from a macro perspective, pay attention closely or you will miss out.

That's the exit fee. FSU can leave the ACC by paying the exit fee. Their media rights, via the GoR, would be a separate discussion and dollar amount (that's the larger, multi-hundred million $ number you have seen)

Under 40?  Hahahahahaha.

They are such strong rivals that they played a whopping five times before Missouri joined the SEC, and two of those were bowl games.  That is a rich tradition of generation rivalry, let me tell ya.

Meanwhile, Missouri and Kansas played every year from 1891 to 2011.  The parents, grand parents, great grand parents of those under 40 alumni would have a much different answer.

Clemson's lawsuit says the $140 million doesn't make sense.  When they signed the contract or "three times the budget" the ACC budget was less than $20 million, making the exit fee around $50M at that time.
