That will change over time. The more alumni that graduate from USF (many are likely to stay in Tampa as opposed to graduates from UF and FSU staying in their respective cities), the more we take of the Tampa market. We win games, we get into the Big12 and become semi-successful...its a wrap.

Yes and the more usf alum who went to the school with a football team. Too many old folks with USF degrees who like the Bulls, but are bigger fans of the school they rooted for in the 70s when USF didn't play football

Only problem is that 28 of that 30% roots for the Gators, Noles, or Canes... :(

Actually, a lot of folks follow both USF and one of those that you mention. I find it incredibly stupid, especially if the person attended and obtained their degree from USF. But I always hear the "I've been following [x school] prior to USF having football, and my [insert consanguine family member] attended there as well." Those types of answers are common with our fanbase, and they rub me the wrong way.

I hate to inform you, but there plenty of people out there that route for a different team other than thier alma matter. Even UF, FSU, and UM.

Those people are stupid and have no loyalty. The alma mater is no different than a family member. Turning your back on it is turning your back on your family. It does happen but it is unforgivable in my opinion.

Prepare to be 'rubbed the wrong way'.

It's not an all-or-nothing proposition. I still follow NCSU (from growing up in NC) and FSU (to thwart the satanic influence of my wife's friends who are Gator to the bone), the ACC for basketball (see previous comment on NCSU) and my wrestling fix comes from the B1G & Big XII.

While I have season tickets to USF - having graduated from there - I'm not gonna forego everything up to '97. It's entertainment, at the end of the day, that's all it is. I still have some FSU & ACC stuff hanging in the closet. Old habits and all that..just can't sign off on a "It's USF or nothing" line of fandom.

This is a great point.... how many Gators and Noles in the Tampa Bay area have adopted USF as a "second" home town team.

If someone is a UF or FSU fan/grad and they devote some of their time to us, we should welcome them in.

When we were winning football games our tv numbers in our market were very good.
